Help with 20" wheels

I recently had 20 inch incubus origin 395 wheels put on. My truck felt like it was pulling left and right, i thought maybe the wider tires or alignment were off. I just had the alignment done and its still feels alittle messed up. Am i setting myself up for big problems later on, should i return them and just get the 17" alloys toyota offers? Does the weight of the wheels have alot to do with this too? Also i dont wanna go through the hassle of changing my truck just to make these rims work out

 

hey man i have the enkei deep six 20' wheels and i had the same problem with them when i put them on....someone told me that the tires i was running where too wide that i should use a more narrow tire too eliminate this problem soo when it was time for new tires i did just that I originally had 295/45/20 now i have 275/50/20 and rides great! hope this helps man also make sure you align it everytime you get new tires or if you ever cross rotate them.

 

Right after I put my 18"s and lift on my truck had alot more "road walk." I got use to it after about a week. I was told it was just from the bigger and wider tires. No big deal

 

I'm having a provblem with tire cupping- on a truck with 6K miles on it that has been checked out by the service dept and is totally in spec. And they won't do anything about it- even though the tires and rims came from the port.

 

I have 20's on my truck with BFGoodrich Gforce tires. The tires are very grippy. If the road has ruts or uneveness, the tires pull to one side or the other. I have read on sites about these tires. It is common for them to do this. But wow! These tires sure do grip, especially when it is wet. I hang the curves like a sports car. I could change to a different tire, but I would have to change my driving style.

 

How many miles do your BFG GForces last? Any idea? Today teh dealer told me that my 60K Michelins will last maybe 20K miles because the rims THAT THE PORT PUT ON have the wrong offset and I'll just have to live with it. I think that's bullshit.

Yeah thats BS. The dealer probably put on the wrong size tires & that is why you are having problems. The Gforce are outstanding tires, but a little pricey. I got my 2nd set (4) at Costco for $800 installed, including FREE lifetime balance & rotation, Road hazard, Plus filled with Nitrogen. Goodyear wanted $1300 not including the above. My tires are rated for 40k, but I take it to Costco every 7k for balance & rotation. I have gotten 45k so far. My next set I'm thinking about getting the Continental Cross Contacts that Missleman has.

These tires are 265/50/20.

They are trying to put the blame on that, so they won't have to fix it & put the correct size on. What size did they put on your truck?

 

Mine are 265/50/20 Michelin Tour HR's.

 

That is the size for that wheel. Are they inflated properly? Do the tires have a directional arrow on them? My tires have to go in a certain direction(arrows pointing to front of truck).

 

They're properly inflated, nitrogen. The Michelin Tour HR is bidirectional.

The truck doesn't have a lift kit that I know of- do they put lift kits in Prerunner SR5's? It's not a TRD.
I'll go out and check the toe-in tomorrow morning. Might be what the problem is.
Another thing that bothers me is that I weigh almost 300 pounds and I'm almost always in the truck alone. Why wouldn't they want to align it with me sitting in it?
