Does anybody know what this green led is under the tpm reset switch

can't figure out what this is or what function it serves (2016 4x4 trd sport)

 

I'm betting its a remote disable installed by the dealer.

No payments sent in for x amount of time, truck is disabled. I've seen these, but never with the light so visible.

 

so now i guess one of the questions the toyota mechanic will ask you before trouble shooting your vehicle is if you missed a payment?

 

It's a dealer installed alarm.

 

To be clear for the OP: The truck didn't come from the factory with that light. It must be a dealer add-on. I agree that it's probably part of an alarm system.

 

It's an alarm led. I can see the alarm wiring from here

 

Its a engine immobilizer. It will only be activated if you miss a payment.

 

Do they disarm it if the person paid cash for the Tacoma. No need to worry about missed payments.

 

My truck doesn't have one. I think they trust that I will be making all of my payments.

 

False. It's an indicator light for an aftermarket dealer installed alarm.

 

Or it could be a sarcasm indicator light.

I'm sure it was included in the price as a dealer installed add on. Some dealers like to add stuff in order to pad the profits on vehicles. Always pay attention to the small details.

 

actually it's connected to your tpms it will turn red when the dash light comes on. It's how you know the reset button works

 

In case you're wondering OP, no one has a clear answer for you. Your dealer would be the one to ask.

 

Many dealers, especially ones that will "finance anyone" put immobilizers on. -or- it could be an alarm led. However who uses a .5" square light for alarms? I've havent seen a light like that in forever.

you can go back to the dealer and ask, trace wiring yourself. I wouldnt go removing it as im sure if its an immobilizer it'll kill the car if not taken off properly.

To solver your alarm dilemna. Arm the alarm. If it doesnt flash or change in anyway you got throw into the shitty credit category by the dealer and if that isnt the case i'd raise hell.
