Just bought my 2013 SR5 and the first thing I want to do is put some running boards on it. I can already tell that getting in and out of the truck is putting a lot of wear and tear on the edge of the drivers seat.

The issue I've noticed with the few Tacomas I've stepped in is that the running boards make it slightly awkward. Kind of like the step needs to be lower. If you don't use the step you hit your shin, if you do, you're almost standing too high making it awkward to sit down.

Are there any running boards that alleviate this? Is it unavoidable because of the height of the truck? I never notice it getting into my dad's Silverado..

Are you against getting rock sliders? They first and foremost protect the side of your truck and function as a step.

My main goal is simply the functionality of the step. I like the look of these: http://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/n-fab-nerf-steps

Now if those are being classified as rock sliders, then yes, I'm good with that.

That's good to hear! I ordered them this afternoon, I think they're going to be the best option for what I'm wanting
