Leer 700 tonneau

So long factory leaky trifold, welcome Leer 700. Body lines molded shape, headliner, electric lock wired to the vehicle locks, high lift, sturdy thick material, perfect matching paint.

 

I have looked at those at my local truck supply.. They are nice.

You going to put a bed rug in your bed?? I'm thinking about it when I pop on a bed lid.

No, the Tacoma rubber mat that is in there is fine.

 

Great if you like them, they seem to be high quality. My truck came with one on it and I quickly replaced it with an ARE shell. I've been trying to sell the thing on and off now for next to nothing (I think I last asked $75 or open to trades) for a couple of years and the only guy who was interested wanted me to deliver the thing to like Kentucky- my gas would have cost more than that. It's still sitting in my folk's back yard.

 

Mind if I ask what that set you back? Also, is it easily removable at home if you're in need of your full bed?

 

Where do you live and what color is it?

 

Around here the 700 is $1500, the electric lock is $150, install is $99, plus tax (I worked a lower price). Yes there are cheaper options but maybe not a better option for my wants and needs. It mounts with 4 bolts and while I think one man could carry it I think you should have 2 to place it on or lift it off.

 

I have a 6 foot white leer on the back of my 2nd gen tacoma for sale. I am in socal if anybody is interested. It has lock and key, but not electric. If still avaliable, it can be found in the 2nd gen tacoma for sale/trade

 

Chuck, How much over hang do you have on the sides of this? Any issues with water intrusion? What did they do if anything at the transition of composite to metal at bed corners @ cab area for any possible leakage?

Funny, I just noticed you're from/live in Valrico I grew up there went too Yates,Mclane it was 8th and 9th grades then and Brandon High how that place has changed over the years.....

The overhang isn't excessive and sheds water well. The shadow in the pic exaggerates it a bit. The flap in the front has not allowed anything in and the dealer also silicone sealed the factory trim.

Looks great!! so it looks like about 1/2 inch between side of bed and edge of Tonneau cover differently a clean install I ordered a 700 this week so I should have it in 2 weeks they said as they get shipments in fast since we are kind of close to Leer

I was back home in March of this year to see my Family and friends.....

 

A 1/2in may be about right, from the outside edge. It is far enough out and far enough over that rain has not come in. It closes so snug that you have to gently close it to the latch point and let the rushing air escape slowly.

I was born in Plant City and raised in Pinecrest, moved to Valrico/Brandon in 1988 when I got married and started my career with the Fire Dept. Give me a shout the next time you come home. March is good month , it has been a brutal Summer.

 

I know it’s an old post, how’s retirement, and do you still like the Leer?

 

Retirement is wonderful, I highly recommend it. I'm paying over $1,400 per month to maintain the same Healthcare plan but beyond that its great.

Almost a year ago I sold the Tacoma and went to an SUV, a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The tonneau covered bed was a big part of that decision. We moved across the state and that cover stopped me from putting anything in the bed of the truck that was more than maybe 18in high. End tables, chairs, nothing fit. We rented a Suburban and put 5 times as much cargo in it, mostly due to inside height. I dealt with that for the entire 4 years I drove the Taco and it finally had to change. Now I have close to the same rear cargo length, more height, and still dry.

The Leer is a superb way to go if storage height isn't an issue.
