    Absolutely-unbelievable.

How long have you had this truck? If only a couple months, then the previous owner/dealer has some explaining to do. I can't see how this frame rust damage was missed, yet the passed it off as certified? Not likely.

Was it sold by a dealership? If so you might have a case for getting your money back, there has to be a law somewhere about dealerships not being able to sell vehicles that are unsafe to drive, at least without plainly disclosing that information...

In CA a dealership can't sell a vehicle that won't pass smog, if they did they'd be liable for it. So I don't see why this wouldn't fall into that same kind of category

I bought it from a small dealer in Indianapolis, not a toyota dealer if that makes a difference

Then I'd definitely look into your state's laws regarding vehicle sales and see if you can make a case to get them to take it back.

Or hope the thing gets stolen or crashed. I really don't see you getting lucky on this deal.

Please go to the Toyota owners site, become a member, enter your VIN and report what service has been done on this truck.

I have found on toyota owners that the last service was in 2009 by the original dealer replacing brake pads and calipers. Doesn't look like it was ever sprayed.

A DEALER can not sell you an extremely unsafe vehicle. Not to mention at that price you could get one with a good frame. Get a refund

Doesn't matter if it's "as is" this is way past that and much more extreme of a issue.

^^^^ this. "As Is" should only apply if there were body damage or maybe some minor repairs like overdue maintenance work or an AC system that doesn't work well. But selling a vehicle that is extremely unsafe to drive and would 100% fail a state safety inspection, that has to be illegal on the part of the dealership.

If this had been a private sale done without any kind of written contract, then I'd say you're pretty much screwed. But I think you have a case here and they should take it back, just a matter how much they fight you over it (who knows, maybe they won't)

I'm sure you intend to, but I would take it back to them ASAP so they can't try and pull any kind of "well the truck's frame was fine when we sold it to you" crap.

I think I'm in the twilight zone. Here is one of the service records from toyota owners.
    service.jpg

...my name is Corey Johnson. Either the original owner ironically has the same name as me or something weird is going on.

Call Toyota HQ tomorrow just to verify that the truck wasn't undercoated. They will give you a case number and call you back with the info. Never hurts to try and hoping the best for you man.

Can you weld? If not buy a hobart 140 and start practicing! I just fixed a 15" version of that this weekend. Sucks about the frame rust, stupid japs cant figure out how to rust proof and damn frame, or do proper qc on vendors.

What that dealer did was unacceptable. Theres no way in hell they didn't know about that damage.

    Hope things work out.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I got mine replaced on my 04 last spring but it had been coated prior. If it hasn't been coated, I don't think they are replacing them anymore.

Stop driving it, that's an accident waiting to happen. My rust wasn't even that bad and I was scared to drive it.

It doesn't matter how much it's changed hands, a warranty's a warranty and they have to honor it if the right steps were taken prior. I was the 3rd owner of my truck and had my frame replaced without issue.
