Bill isn't doing 4x4? that's surprising

 

Twice through Rug Road was enough, saving a little paint for other trips. I will be eager to hear from you 4x4 guys at camp.

 

Im undecided still. A big part of me wants to run 4x4 again with all my changes to the truck. It all really depends on when we get the tire carrier done. I wont camp until i can use my truck tent

RUG ROAD WHEELING/TURKEY CREEK CAMP-OUT 2016!!!

November 18th-20th, FRIDAY-SUNDAY

4wd crew will be wheeling through the infamous 23 mile Rug Road Trail through the Galiuro Mountains to our camping area in Turkey Creek, near Aravaipa Wilderness Preserve. the Phoenix 2wd group will enter in from the east on the graded road route from near Thatcher, east of Globe/San Carlos. Tucson 2wd group will come in from the south from Wilcox through Fort Grant and Bonita.

8-8:30 am Friday Oct 14th at the Circle K
307 Highway 77
Mammoth, AZ 85192. Departure time to trail head at 8:30. Time on trail is 6 hrs minimum. Trail difficulty is rated 3.5/5.

Keep in mind that if it gets close to the trip and there hasn't been too many people bailing we can split up the 4wd crew into two groups 30-45 mins apart..

So I figured out a way to follow the 4X4 route and not get AZ pinstriping.

. You need a helicopter. How bad ass would it be to show up in a chopper with a RTT on it, Tacoma World stickers and all!

 

That would be bad ass indeed!

 

Andrew could build the sliders for it. I mean, um, landing feet? I don't know what they are called but we could do a front bumper with mini gun attachment too

 

Jeep Andrew equipped (aluminum cuz it has to fly!), CHECK.
But a Mini Gun?, well way too much red tape to have that, and it would cost too much to feed it as well, but I like the way you think.

 

A mini gun that shoots Roman candles..

 

It would be great if we could meet up in phoenix before we head out sense i will be coming from up north

 

You're gonna want to find a place to crash the night before. The west side guys rolled out at 5-something.

 

Let me get in on this 4wd reserve. If it comes down to it I'll just 2wd if it stays full. Just want to get out camping hah

 

I was thinking of doing something like receiver pockets welded onto the bed rack and fabbing up some large L brackets that the awning mounts to which can be inserted into the pockets right side up or upside down. The effect being that the awning is mounted down low beside the rack during travel, and when u get to camp you flip it over and have it mounted up high for use. I'm hoping I explained that well enough to paint a picture of what I have in mind. But that's all quite a way down the road for me.

 

So my call schedule is anybody's guess at this point so I may jump in on this trip last minute if all works out well.

I'm new to this forum etiquette, and how you guys have been setting things up. I see some of you are talking about doing a rug road trip in a matter of weeks, but the list seems full? than I saw others sharing the info even though they werent on the list? What does a guy gotta do to "rsvp" to one of these trail runs? Just trying to learn how its done for future outings.
