I'm a feel bad for those who paid an extra $500 for a sliding rear window. That's least amount that the new models are going to cost.

2017 shouldnt have any issues. If anything maybe the new tranny but they have done a lot of testing in it. Ecoboost gen 2 fixed the carbon buildup problem with the injectors kinda like how Toyota cleans their injectors if I remember correctly. Everything else is pretty much normal f150 except the suspension

The $500 isn't fully because of the window. It doesn't cost them much to add that. More just due to cost in manufacturing, usually everything goes up, although it's a bit surprising to see them increase 1 year after a body change

The 2017 models cost an additional $500+ compared to the exact same 2016 trim.

So if you bought a 2016 4x4 Limited for x amount of dollars. A 2017 4x4 Limited will cost you at least x dollars plus $500 more.

The sad part is, you only get the sliding rear window on the TRDs and Limited. For the SR5 and SR you get nothing in return and still pay the extra cash.

I'm actually not worried about the transmission at all. It's the same one as in the zl1 Camaro of today and it's holding up great.

This direct injection is still an issue, I have seen pics of the engines broke down at 10k with carbon all over the cylinder heads and connecting rods. It was nasty.

Ford hasn't released ship dates, final HP and TRQ numbers, and now dealers aren't taking DORA's on them too. Something isn't right, and Ford is stalling. I think they haven't figured this new engine thing out yet.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Nice. And from your picture, it looks like we may have the same home builder...

Around here if you haven't already gotten in line, your not getting a 2017 raptor. And every is paying full price. Paying full price for a domestic truck is about the dumbest thing you could do, a raptor doesn't resale like a Tacoma.

I'm pretty sure they will have the carbon issue solved. That was the point of them reengineering the motor.

Just as a heads up, people are paying more for the 2013-2014 raptor's now compared to when they were brand-new. So I actually do not think the Tacoma holds a candle over the raptor on resale.

A raptor is a special edition. The Tacoma isn't except the new pro. The resale I'm sure went up for the fact that the new ones no longer have the 6.2L in them. Also it's the last year of that body style and some guys sill aren't sold on the aluminum body of the new generation. Lots of factors come into play there

All very valid points. If you don't trust turbos or aluminum in a truck then that was your last chance at one from Ford.

I have the x plan through my company and still bought a taco, another employee bought a 2016 F150 and saved around $5,000 with it. Still like my decision.
