mechanic reset the codes he found and cleared the lights - for free - and they have not come back since then. I am still keeping an eye on them though. We drove the truck to Maine after the shocks were installed and I was worried about the light coming on after driving for a bit each day, and got it checked as soon as we got back off vacation. I am just wondering why it would have happened at all if there is no real problem....?

OK - I read the other threads. I think that it must have something to do with replacing the old, weak springs and shocks. it seems as if you change the truck's COG or it's suspension profile, the light can come on. Even though I put in factory shocks, the ones they replaced were really shot - so maybe that was enough of a change? Still doesn't answer why the ABS light would come on too, though.

I replaced all my shocks myself. The rears were easy. Simple two bolts each. The fronts are a lot more involved but going by a certain method I found on the forums, you don't need a spring compressor. You may need to have an alignment afterward though because the LCA need to be loosened.

    Too few to list.
ABS and VSC work together. I've never seen a light coming on just due to a change in shocks or even coils for that matter though i have encountered the VSC/ABS going off because of a lift. I bet the shop just probably did not secure the connections well. I've done quite a few suspension install and always use the no compressor method as I find it a safer than using the loaner spring compressors.
