    Hey guys,

I am having an issue with my Tacoma. The rear right brake light does not work. Both the dome and rear left do work. I have checked the bulb and it works fine. In fact the light works for when the lights are on, and the bulb is good I put it in the other side and it works fine. I have no idea where to look for only 1 brake light out. Need some help fast

I have also checked most of the wiring, doesn't seem to be any cuts or open wires

Do you have a multi-meter or test light?

@BluntMoose @Sandman614 is telling you the "dome" light thing you are talking about is called a third brake light. Dome lights are inside the cab.

Now as far as your issue with your passenger side light, I am having the same issue. I thought I had it fixed a few weeks ago, now it went out again today. @voz has the same issue.

Get a test light or volt meter and start checking your wires. Until I figure this out myself.

The tail light is getting power, but the brake light isn't. Just so you know that is two different circuits. Are you sure that you have the correct dual element bulb installed?

OP if you swapped from halogens to led , they only work one way. Pull bulb and put back in the opposite direction of how it is now.

My guess would be the trailer harness brake light is grounding out. You say you "unplugged it" - did you disconnect the harness fully from the right side brake light?

The other alternative would be a factory wire has somehow failed along the harness - but modern wiring harnesses are so reliable and well protected, that seems like a stretch.

You've already fully removed the taillight assembly from the truck. At this point, I'd use a multimeter to see if you're getting 12v to the brake light pin.

I'm pretty sure that the socket shares a ground between the tail light and the brake light. So it wouldn't be a failed ground or the taillight would be out too...
