Open your door so when your Hi Lift DOES slip out, it doesn't break your window or dent the F out of your door

So when using a hi lift, open the door? Will it slip even with this adapter?

If the base decides it wants to move you're gonna have a bad time.

Always expect Hi Lifts to somehow slip out, especially if you aren't using the wide base.

Even if you get a lot of practice with them, they're still sketchy.

Good advice from everyone. I've had some recovery training and the hi lift was actually a large part of it (in case you don't have ability to use winch or something). Not an expert, but I did pay attention! lol
I'd like to suggest that we all do a couple other things next time we all use it (not as criticism, but for all of our safety only). I use a base also in my driveway like you did because it leaves an imprint in the asphalt, but angle the base of the hi lift a little more inward under the truck. When you jack it up the lift will be slightly outward or perfectly vertical (that helps with not opening the door and not jacking inward to the door allowing slippage if it occurs to be outward). Also, just ensure you slide that rubber keeper over the handle and main post of the lift so that the handle doesn't fall or come loose. You would be amazed to see a handle slap up and down if the directional was hit by accident. Easily give anyone a concussion trying to stop it. And of course, always chalk your tires on the opposite side. Have a slide adapter available for side jacking (w sliders) and steel bumpers with no jacking points. The flat surface spreads the pressure point across the other flat surface (don't ask about this one.....I bent my bumper a little.....lesson learned).
    PS. Love your truck Dave!

Anyone good with wiring? I failed my inspection yesterday because of a light out on my bumper... Come to find out, the wiring is in shambles. I've never messed with wiring so I have no clue what I'm doing.

Could you take pics of anything? I remember sometimes that my tail lights would have issues. Have you tried plugging in other bulbs and stuff to help rule out what it could be? Im pretty amateur at electrical stuff, but I could be willing to take a look.

I've replaced the bulbs but there are wires that are no longer connected to anything that should be... I'll get a pic up here shortly.

Cool, I wonder if one of the wires somehow got snagged and ripped? I would think a light out on your bumper would be a little challenging to fail on its own besides a dead bulb which obviously isn't the case.
