Anybody else have a difficult time deciding between the 2 when they are priced so close? My 2017 trd offroad dc is 35k, when it comes in. I was on the ford site and built a ecoboost 4x4 with elec. locking diff, crew cab with options for around 46k. I bet that truck could be bought for 37k.

Look at the resale value of both trucks after 2 or 3 years, Toyota blows Ford out of the water.

My next truck will likely be a Ford, either the Ranger or the F-150 (if they offer the 2.7L engine with their 10-speed transmission).

See how low you can really get the Ford. Spend time in each vehicle. Decide how long you'd like to keep the vehicle and how long you'd realistically keep it. Research both vehicles flaws. Decide what's worth it to you.

Seeing a lot of people here jump ship and go to full size. Mainly because the 3.5 V6 leaves a lot to be desired in terms of torque.

I bought the Taco because it fitted my needs at the time and will for the near future. In the next few years I will be switched to either a F-150 ecoboost or a F-250 powerstroke. Will decide what my new needs are when that time comes. It not which one is better, that apples to oranges, but which one better fits your needs/wants/lifestyle.

Depends on what you are buying the truck for and how you plan to use it. What do you hope to get out of it?

Mid size can fit on tight trails if you 4 wheel
Mid size is comparatively easier to navigate in city and urban environments
Mid size will fit in most garages

Full size has more room in the cab and bed
    Full size can tow more
    Full size has more power

The F-150 is a superior truck. But for me it is too big, as I am more interested in the first 3 items than the last 3.

I just went from a POS 15 taco that was in the shop more times than I cared to count and bought a 16 F150 4x4 2.7ecoboost Sport supercrew with 3.55 elec locking diff, dual heated power seats, power sliding rear window, remote start, LED factory bed lights, Sync 3, dual inverter system (one built in for rear passengers) and the sport interior is basically the lariat minus leather (has the big ass center console with the nice console shifter) stickered right at 49k and got it for 34k

And this is my milage as of now

Get a dump truck. Lots of power, hauls a crapload, great pulling and torque.

I really dont see how one can compare a mid size to a full size that is $8000 more. 2 completely different trucks, 2 different price points.

I only did the builds with the options on the F150 to reach your price point. Yes you can make it cheaper but you are losing out on some convenience options. Remember a lot of the stuff comes standard on the Tacoma where as the F150 you have to start putting on packages, such as Push Button start, navigation, locking rear diff, etc.

I was. Sure F-150 is a superb truck. The question is how much will it cost you to keep it on the road. Every single reliability study puts Toyota on top of Ford. So the TCO for F-150 might turn out to be not what you expect it to be.

But if money is not an object - hell yeah. Get two of them.

The Ford stuff over the last 5 years or so is leaps and bounds over what it was before then. Totally different vehicles.

Im sorry but without you providing proof of your purchase for 34k for NEW, I am going to have to call BS.

Even with my Fleet account through Ford and the buying power I have through my company, I cant get 10000 off invoice. Please let me know what dealer in Texas you purchased it from so I can start buying all my Ford vehicle for my customers from them because with my Ford relationships and fleet #s, the most we have ever seen has been around 7000 off invoice and that is with a fleet factory order with the finance, holdback and advertisement money taken off as well as the fleet money.
