Hi all, as you can tell, I'm new here and to Tacoma's. I bought a used 14 TX Baja DCSB with the factory TRD faux bead locks, and was wondering if 285/75s would cause any rubbing problems in normal daily driving. Any help would be much appreciated

You can run 255/85/16 which are 33.3 inch tires with no problem i did on my BAJA.

Just a heads up OP, if you have the TRD rims where the ring is actually removable those are not faux bead locks they are fully functional protective and replaceable " rock rings ". Great feature to have, you can beat them to heck in the rocks and replace them easily if you want too or keep the scars as trophies without the actual lip of your rim ever being compromised.

285/75R16 will definitely have rubbing issues.

I had to add a 1" Toytec spacer up front, crank up the shocks all the way up and get an ICON 3-pack AAL and still get small rubbing issues in the front when I make a sharp left or right. I guess it will go away if I take off the front mud flaps.... or just wait until the tires rub holes in them. lol

I prolly should have mentioned that the mud flaps are already off. Thanks for replying. Is it the height or width that causes the problems pruchai

I think it's both, realy. I went from 31" to 33" and 255 to 285 width. Definitely more tire in every direction.

    ugh again and again.

Why dont people get that 285/75R16 size tires will rub REGARDLESS OF LIFT. the tire is just physically too big for the wheel well area. You flex the truck or turn you will rub.

Biggest you can safely go is a 265/75R16 without needing to cab mount chop, flatten pinch weld or remove flaps.

Biggest you can go and have the possibility of getting lucky is a 255/85R16, but this all depends on alignment etc.

This is all moot point if you are a mall cralwer and dont actually use your truck. Then go ahead get your 285/75R16's

I did not rub with 285's, even when flexed out. No cab mount chop.

    YMMV

I don't have cab mount chop and the only time it rubs when i make sharp left or a sharp right into a driveway with a dip. And even then, it rubs so little, it barely just wiped dirt from a tiny spot on my mud flaps. I've had these tires on for 2 months now.

go out, flex the truck so that a tire is of the ground and go through your range of motion turning, guaranteed to rub. and bad

    Yes

Nope, they are super heavy junk. Since you live in a 4 season state you should stick with a siped AT tire for sure. Have you seen the new Nitto Ridge Grappler ? That or the Toyo RT are prob the best aggressive AT's out right now.
