Nice...bass man myself but can't pass up a good trout hole. Flies and spinners for me. When I get lazy, I go the wax worm bobber route.

Have you seen what they sell for lures? Not a damn one of them looks like a fishes natural food. (See above photo). Therefore, fish are stupid.

A fish's only defense mechanism, aside from the flight response, is it's mouth. It doesn't always bite out of hunger.

Well...as they say... A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work - to end our 4 day weekend. We're still new to this kayak fishing thing exploring various boat launches up & down the Susquehanna River. The river varies from launch to launch....water level, terrain, clarity, current, OMG - it's crazy. We've been using an App called RiverApp to watch the water levels. We'd waded one area when the levels were listed at 3.1ft and 3.5ft. It's a little higher and makes wading a bit unsafe. So, we're playing with the new toys (Feelfree Lure 11.5). We also bought a trailer (a kit) to haul them with but can't use it yet. Our registration paperwork is sitting on someone's desk and it'll be 2-God knows - how many weeks to get our license plate & registration. Grrrrrrr

Bright and early this morning....6:30am - we're on the water with a cover of fog. We brought just about everything we own in terms of lures/bait/rods, etc - which is all for Bass (and whatever else). There are these HUGE fish jumping out of the water all around us!!! And, they're not bass!! Wide white bellies - probably catfish. This area is known for catfish - and now I know why. But damn....we don't have anything to fish for cats!! I gotta brush up on my catfish knowledge, I would've never thought they'd be feeding top water!!!!

So, we paddle upstream....I've never seen terrain like this before ever - in a river. It's like a scene from a dinasour movie!! Boulders everywhere above & below the water like giant icebergs (But they're 'water' formed / rounded boulders). It was really neat and pictures obviously don't do any justice.

Steve caught a very small smallmouth at the damn overflow and I didn't catch a damn thing. LOL Still learning.... Gotta get some catfish rigs/gear. Looks like they're everywhere!
Hope all you ladies had a great weekend!!

    Looks like a good time!

Believe it or not, catfish will take a topwater lure. They will also take crankbaits as they are predators. A great lure for smallies is a yamasenko fished wacky style.

Nice catfish! They eat just about anything. LoL!
I caught this one on a dropshot rig when I was fishing for bass.

I like the peace of fishing (alone) but I'm a catch and release kind of person. No seafood or fish for me, thanks!

I just don't eat seafood. Can't stand the taste of it. Call me weird but there's someone on here who hates ice cream and all fruit so I'm not totally abnormal

I'm a fan of some seafood/fish, but I rarely keep what I catch...especially freshwater...it all goes back or to someone I'm fishing with...mainly because I'm too lazy to clean it
