Am I missing something? That looks exactly like the flatlink E... At least according to Google

They do look cool, but really not needed.
I get the safety factor, be safe, but don't take all day about it.

Hooks are bad on the end of straps but just fine on the end of a winch line. And I'm talking about a permanent attachment to one or the other.

Straps should be a loop only on the end, never a hook or a D ring attached to it for any reason, unless it also attached to something that won't come loose, like the bumper.
    So Bumper, D ring, strap---good.
Strap to D-ring then to hook---bad
Strap to receiver hitch pin, best bet ever.

That is one area where @Gramps soft D-rings are valuable, attaching two or more straps together to make a longer one.
A rolled up towel or gym shorts will do the same thing though.

Those fancy milled blocks are actually adding a D-ring into a connection where it's not needed if a hook is properly used.

I certainly wouldn't trust anything with a usage warning laser etched right into the side.

Agree with all above but I want to point out that is why Jake was telling him to return the basic Flatlink E and get the Flatlink E Expert. The longer opening allows you to pass the "D" part of a D ring through and attach it to the bumper or recovery point. Where as the basic flathink E requires you to attach a D ring to a D ring. The fancy Flatlink E Expert is one step above a hook because it is a complete closed loop system that does not allow the possible disconnection due to the open part of the hook.

Any local interest in some Pelican cases? I'm heading to Arizona mid September to pick up some from @L3Goullon who has a source to buy them and for a very small fuel donation I can grab one or several for anyone interested :)

1650's 2975's are easiest to come by, I'm getting 4 1660's for the expo trailer. Prices too good to pass up, even after I figure the drive down to Phoenix.
