I ordered the regular flatlink, then realized the extra functionality of the flatlink E, cancelled the original order and upgraded.

Flatlink will only allow you to put the pin through it, so whatever you are connecting to the d-ring must be able to fit over the large area of the d-ring. I got a winch extension line that I have to force onto the pin side of a d-ring, no way in hell I could slip it over the d-ring itself, so if I had the flatlink I would need to strap something else to the d-ring, then to the extension cable. So now I can use whatever side works for me. I didn't want to spend the extra money, but its well worth it.

I also like it vs a hook since it cinches up nice and tight with the fairlead and no need to connect the hook to my tow hook... or antenna o_O to keep it tensioned.

I did. Shouldn't have to monitor anything. In fact this adds a new level of experience and attention required to use it. I'm not saying don't use one though.

Better to ask what I have not done.
Running them on the truck. I like them so far. No complaints with the shock at all!

You should be monitoring your hook as well. They just didn't have laser etching back in 1956 when you got your winch. :D

Way to take it out of context. :D
A hook and ring self correct, that billet block appears to cause a bind. It's all good bling man. And yes I do monitor my pulls. I've taught a class myself way back in the day before laser etching.

Man... if you saw the way I rigged up some recoveries out of pure desperation, you'd cringe.
