That's $200 worth of EAF points sold with the guise of safety.

So as I see it you have to remove the D-ring to run it through the hole in this doodad, then hook the D-ring back up to the bumper?

Or run a D-ring between this doohickey and tow strap which is wrapped around the bumper or some sort of recovery point on the vehicle?

I do like how this thingamabob does protect the line when not in use so it doesn't rub or get pinched on rocks/etc

Lol, for the record, I never said don't use it, just that it's way over priced.
In the club, if we ever had to make a questionable recovery where the attachment was paramount, we removed the hook altogether and ran the D ring through the end of the line itself. Quality hooks have a roll pin for the line attachment as opposed to a permanent loop like some other styles.

Yeah, I edited, that's ok. You have to do the same for a hook as well.

These guys are idiots, another cool accent though.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ltw07mAasb0
Both videos they demonstrated improper use of the hook to strap connection. there is still supposed to be a D ring around the strap or tree saver if you prefer, then set the hook on the D-ring. If the hook is the correct shape, you actually have to run the shaft through the hook and the end close enough it won't come off anyway. Warn makes their hooks to fit the 3/4" shaft just like that. You guys that have wheeled with me have seen me hook up in just this manner. Smittybilt does not have their hooks designed this way, they like to use a large end design with that infamous retainer clip.

:rofl::rofl:Bud. Its marketing. They want to sell their product not convince you that a 200$ hunk of aluminum is a waste of money. And if you want a warn hook for your winch i have 3 laying around. You can have one.

But it does not have a lightweight super duper strong titainium cross pin to boost the cool factor and weight savings:eek:

Hell I don't even have a winch but that Aussie accent and blue anodized aluminum has me sold.

But for real I can see the practicality of that thing. Just not worth the money as I've used/seen/been a part of many recoveries with your good old fashion hook.

I don't follow the comparison you're trying to make.

Oh, and the words you were looking for were since, as opposed to sense, and break, as opposed to brake.
