lol yeah it was frustrating. @pupdrew had a first gen and I remember he missed it a couple times but got it eventually but he was auto...I dunno it's the only variable I can think of. Toward the end I was red lining it up toward the top and that's something I never even come close to doing in my truck, that was the last vid where I actually got to the top but then got stuck and had to back down, lol. I gave up after that.

May have been weight.... Or maybe you could have used a few extra PSI less in each tire? I would have done 4H locker on and "When in doubt, throttle out."

The 3.4l was born to redline  But being supercharged with no fuel mods I have to be extra careful

I bet if you had enough run up you could have done it all in 2nd gear without shifting.... Let momentum carry you over. It seems like you were losing more momentum than the other guys going up it.

PSI is the one thing I'm thinking probably would have done it for me in hindsight. That night we all went out and I got stuck in the bottom of that sand pit I was rocking 15 psi like I was in these videos. I went down to 10 that night and got right out. Should've tried 10 psi on that hill, probably would have made a big difference.

Yeah. E rated tires on a 1st gen need to be aired down lower to get the same traction benefit as a heavier rig.

Excellent point here, which would make sense as his ride is gonna be awfully light and those heavier 2nd gens were going right up it with some extra weight to help get those tires into the sand.

I was 17 front and 15 rear and getting loose in 2wd w/ locker on as much as possible.

Came home all 4 tires still seated.

I don't think stock size 1st gen tires were helping me either.

Either way I said it over the weekend and I'll say it again...the dunes have humbled me

that doesn't count as getting stuck! I just didn't have enough speed going up because I didn't wanna clip the front bumper going up

I ran 15 all around. I always air down to 15 hot and end up around 13 when I wheel.

    No problems yet.

But e-rated tires are supposed to hold up well because of the reinforced sidewalls

Okay. I suppose stuck was a poor choice of words.

    We can stick with "fail"

It's plausible that you "failed" your first two attempts because your were at 20psi. :hattip:

When I first got my truck I told myself I was going to get rid of the e-rated tires asap because I was worried about their effect on my gas mileage, 4 months later I say I'm never going anything BUT E-rated since they kick ass on trails. I can live with +/- 18 mpg...

Yeah I'm sticking with e-rated also. My tires get beat up by my driving. I'm okay with being a beast on the streets to be a beast on the trails :bananadance:

Sounds like one helluva reason to get a new bumper!
