New Truck, Need Mod Advice

I just got a gold 2002 Tacoma with, 2WD, SR5, and TRDOffroad.

I was wondering what some good modifications would be and links to sites that sell them. I was thinking about eventually raising it (how much should i raise it) and getting new rims. It is my everyday driver but i do like to go offroading when possible. Any advice, suggestions, and pictures of your modifications would be very appreciated

what regional terrain are you in?

 

I live in Oklahoma and I am talking like offroad driving with my buddies on dirt trails and what not.

Nothing like hardcore or rock climbing.

Any advice of whether i should go 3inch or 6inch lift or maybe 4inch?

It really depends on what you will be doing, and what tire size you want to run.. And welcome to TW!

 

stick with a 3 inch lift...

4 inch and 6 inch get too involved to get it performing right...

 

I would be just takeing the truck trail riding since its only 2WD no rock climbing or anything, so like ^ said i think a 3inch lift would be the best for me thanks. (plus like ^ said its less problems)

Anyone have suggestions of good 3inch lifts kits that are good quality but not an insane price?

And any suggestions on cool looking 16inch rims for my truck?

Well im a senior in high school and im working part time so i mean im not rakeing in the money, but is there any descent 3inch lift kits around the $500-$1000 price range? And rims im just looking at ideas right now of what looks good, I will worry about what I can buy later.

Also is there another way of raising the truck 3inchs other than buying all new shocks?
I think i read some where that someone used spacers and AAL would that raise it noticably?

 

steer clear of the spacer lifts. here are some decent lifts that are in your price range and heres a pic of my truck with my American Racing Mojave teflons to give you and idea...

So if i bought those I would have everything i need to raise my truck right? Sorry im new to this kind of stuff and trying to learn, been reading a lot of new information on here. I would just take out the stock shocks in the front and replace them with the new ones and add the new leaf into the back.? Is it really worth it, doesn't the TRD Offroad come with a pretty good suspension for offroading in the first place?

yes the OME kit has everything you'll need. sure the TRD susp is good but your truck is 7 years old and the stock parts are prob getting pretty tired so upgrading wont hurt and the better ride of the OME kit will be VERY noticle upgrade over what you have now. keep in mind after lifting your gonna want to run bigger tires too.

I have a 2001 pre-runner 2wd with 2" blocks and spacers, cost me $500.00 for parts and installation. Put them on when I was a senior in high school. It's been 6 years now and i've had no problems with the truck, suspension, etc. I'm on my second set of BFG 33x12.50 All-Terrains. Love the truck, love the tires.

new shocks wouldn't hurt, its a lil bumpier than a susp lift i guess. i've only gotten stuck twice (once on a dirt bike trail), the other i just had no business being in that deep of mud with 2wd. i use the truck mostly for hauling my boat and trailer. the big meats really help out with pulling the boat out of steep inclines when the ramp is wet and/or covered with algae.
