My LEDs have fans in them but have a 2 year warranty. The brighter your lights are the hotter they will get. Several people have had melting issues with cheaper LEDs and brighter halogens. To each their own.

By suggesting he use the newer fanless LED in his projectors for better durability rather than the older fan style prone to failure? And suggesting 2nd gen reflectors use specific reflector technology? :)

Good to know, I was not aware of that. I'll have to pop the hood and check that out next time I'm at the dealer.

Warranty doesn't do you much good when you have to pull out everything, send it back in, wait for them to check it out, then send you a new unit. In the mean time you have to swap back to stock or be without headlights for weeks. There were "lifetime" LED headlights, there is a huge thread on it. People got so tired of being without headlights most abandoned their LEDs and went back to stock, even though they were "under warranty".

True that brighter means hotter, but there are also better engineered methods of thermal management that are also more reliable than a cheap cooling fan. Like this from TRS:

I would advocate spending a little more and buying quality once.
