Good for you, dad! It's great to see another dad teach his girl to drive a manual. She'll always remember that dad taught her to drive a manual and have fond memories.

Is it the new 3rd gen thing to start a new thread when your kid drives your truck?

That is awesome! Great bonding time with your teen daughter, it makes a girl feel special to learn something from her dad one on one.

Thank you. It sure is. In the rare case I see a stick shift car or truck I always thank the owner for having one.

Awesome work! I learned to drive on a stick, my Dad's Mazda Miata. A fun car to learn on. Since then always been a manual guy. She will be able to drive any care in the future now.

I'd love to get a m/t but the wife can't/won't drive one. That's awesome teaching her you never know when that could come in handy. By the time my daughters are of driving age the cars will probably will all be automatics.

I hear that... was on our way home from vacation and I was getting tired so I talked my wife into driving highway... figured it would be easy right. She already has a M/T Honda CRV.... guess what? She had absolutely no confidence and I was not resting. She wasn't used to the width of the truck and kept hitting the rumples at the edge of the highway everytime she went to pass a truck then slowed down... ended up driving beside the truck WAY longer than needed... I'm stressing hit gas put it in 6th keep it over 70..OMG. Had to pull over I was more stressed as a passenger than driving tired.

I taught my daughter how to drive a stick way back.. she's in a Jeep 4x4 with a stick ... Rubi-something or other...

It is a dying skill and to me it should be mandatory for all drivers to know how to drive stick.

Bob, no offense but I think you need to bust a nut or something. Reading that gave me stress.

Awesome post. I need to make sure I teach my son how to drive one when the time comes just in case. I learned on my own a few years after I had owned a couple starter cars. Bought an old Opel fixer upper (check out the shift pattern on the 72's). Stalled it about 20 times in one block till I got the timing down, thought I was golden and thought ...HEY, this isn't sooo bad!..... Then I had to stop at a red light on a HILL . Memories.
