Stopped by a local bike shop during my lunch break to purchase a set of new pedals for my Cannondale I had purchased only a couple months ago...ended up leaving with a 2016 Stumpjumper Comp Carbon 650b. My Cannondale is a 29er, Carbon frame hardtail so I thought I would give the 650b a try. The 29er will roll over anything but I'm really enjoying how nimble the 650b is when hitting jumps, etc.

MSRP is $3,800 but they were kind enough to give me a break on the price. I called my wife on the way back to the office to let her know that she would probably want to go ahead and get the divorce papers ready for me to sign since I had just spent $3,400 on the Cannondale in May. lol.

Nice. I sorta did the same thing with my '16 SJ. Was just taking my old one in to get the suspension serviced and went over to check out the '16s. I was really interested in the 650b. I rode a few 29ers and they are so smooth and so easy to ride. But I just don't like the feel. It isn't as fun for me. I'm really happy I got the 650b though. I feel like it is still easy to whip around, very fun etc but is a little more stable than my old 26' SJ.

I had to take mine into today as I'm having a difficult time removing one of my clip pedals; my Allen key broke and consequently rounded out the allen insert for the XT pedals I have. They (the bike shop) even had a hard time removing it so I will be dropping it off on Monday to let them work their magic some more. If worse comes to worse, I've told them to simply replace the front sprocket with a single gear and add XT cranks. Unfortunately it's not just a bolt-on upgrade as there are other components needed to add the XT parts. I'll also be removing some weight (not much but every bit counts).

So is a 1Up rack really worth the money? They certainly look sweet.

    Yeah.
I don't own one yet, but have owned a Thule and now a Kuat, but I know people with the 1UP. Kuat is better than the Thule, but I think my next will be a 1UP as long as it can support a fat bike. They aren't much more than the Thule and Kuat.

I definitely think its worth it. The guys I ride with sold me on the 1Up, rack is solid, doesnt move at all even at a fast speed on dirt. only hold onto the wheels so keeps the frame free. I have no complaints, would buy the same rack again over anything else. Im sure @vrun22 or @5678ta have the same input haha

The 1UP is the way to go. I also looked at the Quat NV 2 and the Thule T2 pro before I purchased my 1UP and I'm glad I went with the 1UP. The other two racks look nice and have good features like the locks on the T2 or the bike stand on the Kuat NV, but both have a flat bicycle platform and have a lot of plastic pieces. With the 1UP it looks nice and the 2nd bike location on the rack is slightly elevated and as you additional racks they are slightly elevated as well (great for off roading). It's also nice that you can move the bikes more to the left or the right side of the rack to get that right fit so none of the bikes are touching each other. The 1UP does lack in a lock so you will have to purchase one to lock it down when you go grab a beer after a ride. The 1UP looks clean, its durable, easy to use, and it's hand built here in the USA. It's also nice when your buddies have the same rack and additional add ons.

Very old pic, but I built her back in 06. Sadly haven't hit any trails or anything on her since probably 2010 or so.

With a little help from my cousin (LBS mechanic), I got this bad boy assembled last night. Ok, my cousin did 98% of the work. I brought the beer and got in the way for 4 hours. But it's done! Whistler this Friday/Saturday. Pumped!

Here is a pic of my two Dh bikes. One is a Scott gambler and the other is a Santa Cruz nomad. The nomad is also trail friendly!
