    Has anyone else here ever had shoulder impingement? I have stopped all upper body weightlifting and only do lower body. I have been doing the exercises to strengthen the muscles around the impingement using bands, that are recommended to correct this condition.

    There are stretches to do that help with the rotator cuff for those shoulder areas that helped me. But that was only for a short time then I got better

    Unfortunately you can't target a spot to lose fat on. You'll just have to lose fat in general and the gut will go away. Those things you've listed sound good doe.

    How long did it take you to recover and what were the stretches that helped? I have been doing a few stretches that were recommended, but can't do the full range because it's tender.

    A torn rotator cuff is what will happen if I didn't do my strengthening exercises with bands. Shoulder impingement is really when things are misaligned, causing the pain.

    Got ya......makes sense. I had a torn cuff about 12 years ago. Had steroid shots twice in it & finally had to skip all upper body lifting for over a year to get better. Still aches a little when I go heavy. But I've heard surgery doesn't make it 100% either. Do all u can to avoid the tear! Warm up exercises for the shoulders before heavy benching. Like some light lat pulls for high reps.
