Yep, I feel the same about the TSB, felt great for a week then back to a pile of rubbish. If this transmission learns anything it would be how to annoy the hell out of the driver. I find myself using the ECT button most of the time just to avoid the sluggo effect. I'm beginning to think that first week was a placebo effect, I only thought it was different.....

I have and they work great no problems, from pictures someone posted they are basically the same as the ones from Lowes.

Ok,thanks! So I did my own tsb. Toyota probably got the fix off tacoma world! Anyone heard anything on the 17 having 4.3 gears? Or was that all debunked?

Brad and all who are interested: The TSB eliminated the 2nd to 3rd shift flair.

Had my TSB done on Monday, haven't had time to evaluate the results yet.

All, I started a new 3rd gen thread to encourage people to pull together and engage Toyota through their 800 number. Please read the thread, and let's all band together and get something done.

After around 1,000 miles, I'm also back to S mode and shifting through 3-6 as needed.

Might be influenced by recently driving around Spain in a buddy's Focus RS with a manual 6 speed and realizing how much I love a manual transmission...

So the R to D delay was not eliminated? The reluctance to up shift after cresting a hill while using cruise control was not eliminated?

All, for those with 6 cylinder Tacomas, with automatic transmissions, that are still having transmission issues, I ask you to pull together, call Toyota customer service, and let them open up a case. Their number is 1 (800) 331-4331. Toyota is a global company, and they operate off of numbers and statistics. They need to know (with measurable numbers) that people are having problems with this transmission. Have a more accurate count of people having issues with the transmission will motivate them to dive deeper into the root cause of the transmission woes that many of us are facing here.

Sounds to me you are moving your shifter to m mode. Which by default then limits you by default to a maximum 4th gear. Might read your manual or even ask the dealer about that.

Took mine in for 2 TSB's today, grease u joints, check trans fluid level, everything was done after 30 mile ride home trans seems smother and no r to d delay. The plugs were ordered along with the sticker and will be sent to my house for me to install also trans fluid was good.

Actually, yes the lag was eliminated, I never use cruise so I can't say one way or the other about that, what I did notice is what I thought was more pep through the gears has returned to what was there before. Sluggish.

This is to be expected. Everything is the same as it was before the TSB except for the R to D delay. The CC is also fixed but as you say, not something you can comment on. If you unplug your battery for 30 minutes the AI feature of the transmission will reset again and the transmission will behave like it did right after getting the TSB done. Then it will progress to the point where you are at now, not liking how it shifts. The bottom line is you and some others don't like how the transmission shifts using the AI compensation. That has nothing to do with the TSB and it was not intended to address any of that. One guy who didn't like the way the transmission shifted after going through its adaptive/learning period went through a couple of cycles of resetting the AI program (disconnect battery) then driving the the truck really hard for the first couple of tanks. This worked for him. You can also try driving in S6 which disables AI. Personally I like the way the transmission behaves because it makes it easier to get good mpg. I noticed my city mpg seemed to drop right after I had the TSB done but then eventually returned to what I was getting previously.

Losing the air dam may cost you a little bit of fuel mileage.

Not in 6 cylinders with automatics. It would be a nice improvement though.

brad- no shift flairs when cold. 1000 miles since TSB. Again the issue I have is the inconsistency in shift points. The TSB only reduced but did not eliminate. This to me seems to point to a programming issue.
