If you use the USD price of $42760= $55268 CDN at todays exchange. The USD mark up (above invoice pricing) is $4430 which equals $5725 CDN mark up. The MSRP of the truck is actually cheaper by almost 2k(Cdn) than our southern friends but the markup is ridiculous on either side of the border. Hopefully are Canadian Dealers will do the Canadian thing and give us some discounts but I won't hold my breath...

The problem is that this is the only Tacoma model, the TRD Pro, where basically Toyota is doing a direct dollar conversion to come up with the CDN MSRP. Every other Tacoma model sees roughly 60% of the value of the conversion passed on to the CDN MSRP. In other words, Toyota is milking the TRD Pro for every penny which is not what they are doing with the rest of the lineup in Canada.

It makes sense from Toyota's point of view. Toyota knows they could price these at 80K and they could still sell 250 of them in Canada. That's not many to sell. Someone will buy into them at $55K just for the badging. At $55K the dealers will make a pile and so does Toyota. It's a win win on a special model for the company.

For a rational potential Tacoma buyer though the TRD Pro just went from a hard sell to a "thanks, but no thanks."

Yeah I Saw the currency conversion was not even close on the other models, which is a piss off in itself. I'd definitely be looking at a DCSB TRD OR with tech package if we could get such a thing up here but no, u want tech u gotta go 6speed manual sport...

I'm guessing the TRP Sport Upgrade Package is no longer an option, it's part of the base model. Otherwise yeah, hard to understand how MSRP can move from high $36 to low $39 (for the 6MT version.)

Disappointed that DC TRD OR isn't available in 6MT, that's what I was hoping for based on MikeWells' previous comments.

But with the bump in price for the DCSB TRD Sport 6MT, I think I'm out of the market completely now (for sure if the 2017 Sport requires a headroom-killing sunroof), why bother, it was borderline in 2016 and it's just decayed even more in 2017 prices.

I'm looking to get a DCSB TRD OR...so it's hard to compare the prices of the AC to the new DCSB. Not really apples to apples

It's really crazy to look at these prices and look at full sized IRL selling prices. No, I'm not trying to start that whole argument, but why would Toyota think people will pay 45K (after taxes) for a Tacoma when the same truck but larger can be had from GM, Ford, Ram, etc... it's almost like Toyota is putting themselves out of the market.

The Colorado is way cheaper than the Tacoma now, especially since GM dealers are playing ball on it, and more competition in the mid sized class is hitting the market. It's sad that Toyota doesn't see that increases out of line with the market will push buyers away in Canada :(.

This is exactly what is going on I have waited for years for a DCSB Auto in Canada and now looks like sr5 only as the limited is LB and pro is over priced. Will now wait to see what the others will be like as I wanted all the extras yet they ask way more then I'm willing to pay

I had the opportunity to drive a 2016 Colorado with the Duramax diesel and I'll tell you that, that is an amazing powertrain. Awesome power and I did about a 100km test drive city/highway/traffic Avg 7.8L per 100/km on the computer. Ridiculous! but i thought "nah too expensive" sticker was 44k... thats kind of looking cheap now. However I will say that the base Tacoma interior beats that Colorados (it ugly and not that comfortable).

Glad that I picked my AC up a few months ago then. No way was I buying a Full Size GM, Ford or Dodge, even if they had of been offered at a lesser price.

New Update, looks like they are not going to offer the TRD Pro suspension as an accessory:

If you haven't seen the new Tacoma Cover, they finally made a nice one, it just doesn't have that last section that folds up like the Bak Flip.

Has Toyota released the long distance remote starter you mentioned several months ago?

They will be released in March 2017, I am hoping by then they release the suspension as well. They might be holding off releasing it while they are building the Pro's in factory.
