Brake rotors

need new rotors bad, what do you guys suggest? I run them pretty hard on logging roads etc... Thanks for the suggestions

 

I went with EBC rotors and pads. Noticable difference in stopping power compared to stock.

 

Did you get the green stuff or red stuff pads?
I'm getting some pretty damn good shaking when I'm braking and I'm pretty sure it's warped weak les shcwab rotors

 

On my last brake job on my 1st gen I did OEM rotors and Wagner thermo quiet ceramic pads. They made a noticeable difference with less dust. Just my .02.

 

Check all the warped rotor threads on here before you go diving into expensive rotors. There are several causes for rotor run out and I can almost guarantee it's not because one or both are "warped". You can run OEMs or EBCs but if you abuse them you're going to have vibrations again. Along with that I'd encourage replacing pads with the rotors so they can bed in together to prevent squeals and (hopefully) vibrations in the future.

As for your question-spend what you want. Your break in process and your driving habits will have a bigger outcome on your braking system.

 

Upgrade to Tundra brakes.

I ended up going with these. So far so good. Did the break in for the pads once I installed.

 

I got the the Extra Duty pads for light truck and SUV. Also got the Ultimax slotted rotors.

 

I'm running StopTech (aka Centric) slotted rotors and have been impressed with their performance. These rotors/calipers are about as big as they can be while still fitting inside a 16" wheel.



The StopTech rotors also come with an E-coat on the hat surfaces and internal vanes to prevent corrosion. Many other brands lack this.

2nd gen Tacoma brakes are already the same size as 1st gen Tundra brakes. An "OEM" upgrade path would be 4Runner Limited brakes, but then you won't be able to run 16" wheels.

Well I went with the EBC premiUm rotors and yellow stuff pads. Almost bought the slotted rotors but decided just to stick with blanks

 

By chance would you have the part number of the StopTech Rotors you purchased? I'm about to upgrade and I've heard great things about the StopTech.

 

Any recommendations on ceramic pads to pair with StopTech Rotors? Looking to upgrade very soon. Thanks.

Centric/Stoptech/Power Slot P/Ns for the rotors:

I also picked up the hardware kit (pad retention pins and anti-rattle clips) P/N 11744075

For pads I recommend Akebono ASP976.
