I use poke assistant alongside that iv rater alongside the in game appraisal system

And I've started a new collection

Is there an easier method? I don't take the game seriously enough to read articles and whatnot

 

No lol I just use the appraisal to see if it is top tier. If I really want to know I'll use IV rater

 

Would it be better to use spare candies on the Dratini before evolution? Given you have enough candies to evolve him after.
My thinking is if the CP multiplies by 1.5-2x when evolving the starter pokemon, you get more use out of the candy than using it on a dragonite.

 

Maybe the stardust cost would be less too

 

No, you don't know how the evolves will go and the attacks will be for dragonite. Could get the low end of each evolution

 

I would think using it pre evolve would be better too since you get the multiplier but risk of a crappy evolve could waste it too. Low CP, bad attacks, etc...I still don't power up at all for now since I'm only lvl 23

 

It's a waste of time at my low level. Might get slightly higher cp after evolving but if the moves suck then I'll just be looking for another good dratini, and be down a ton of stardust.
