My buddy has decided to take the plunge and get a '17 TRD Pro tacoma in Cement once they are available. I was hoping people on this site could point me in the direction of a good dealership/salesperson to send him to. The Pro's are a little harder to get and I was hoping to avoid him going through some of the horror stories I have read from people getting false promises.

    Thanks in advance.

It would help if you said what part of the state (or maybe even what state) you plan to look in.
My first recommendation is always to start with an auto broker. I've only heard of one rare situation where the person didn't like theirs.

Western Washington. We are not opposed to traveling. I've never dealt with an auto broker, I'll have to look into that. Think they can get a Pro? Seems to me like the dealers won't budge on them since they are so popular that we would end up paying more to go that route.

An auto broker works (typically) in conjunction with a credit union's loan department. In my case, I bought through Autoland, who offered me my loan through First Tech Credit Union.
The auto broker will discuss with you what you are looking for, and then proceeds to locate and deal with fleet managers on your behalf to find a vehicle that meets your specifications for the best price. Once found, they present you with the prices and you can say yes or no. If you say yes, they will arrange paperwork to sign at their office (my guy had his desk in the bank), and schedule a time and location for you to pick up the vehicle. I picked up mine from the bank parking lot, but from what I understand, they are also capable of driving the vehicle to your house.
The prices they found for me were better than the Costco auto program.

I will say that I went in to Royal Moore, and kind of wished I had bought straight through them for the service they had offered me. They offered me multiple test drives, gave me pricing information to take home and look over (I've never seen that done before), and their offered price was actually $500 under invoice. When I discussed this with my broker, they admitted that in 5 years on the job, no one had beaten their prices. Autoland was still able to match that offer and save me an hour drive, otherwise I would have driven back up to the dealership to make the purchase. Keep in mind that I was buying during the start of the recession with a near-perfect credit score, so I may have been seen as a slam-dunk sale during desperate times.

It's a fairly straight forward process if you don't mind talking on the phone. Call dealerships, ask for internet sales manager, ask if you can get a TRD Pro. Do that until you get what you want.

The ones that are the hungriest to make a sale at the best possible price. This will change from dealer to dealer based on the dealers performance as determined by management.
Like Doggman said, call around and have the dealers battle it out. Although I would imagine these are hard to come by so doing a good deal on these will not be common (available inventory and demand will keep the prices high).

I went to Toyota dealers in Bellingham, Lake city way, Mt Vernon, Burien and I bought mine from Titus Will Toyota. I worked with their internet department. Email Mike Carter and work out a deal with him. He is super nice and real easy to work with. Just do your research and send him an offer. My BS detector did not go off at all with him. BTW, I bought a white 2016 DCSB TRD OR. Give him a try for sure.

I'd recommend Peter Hubris at Renton Toyota. When no one else in WA, OR, or ID could find the truck I wanted, he did. He's a hustler, in a good way.

sales will call themselves internet sales manager (that was our side name lol) honestly the number one way to get our best price no haggle no bullshit is just blast email everyone around ask for there bottom dollar find the best 3 then nudge them into there best offer... then play around.. only downside to this is they will fuck with your trade in and low ball that once they see it.... try to get them to commit to a price before driving down

That's why you would follow with selling yours via private party.
Your method is the definitely the way to get the lowest price, but also requires a good deal of effort. I did things this way and ultimately wasn't getting much better than the auto broker for my level of time investment.

Michael's Toyota of Bellevue has two of them as of today. Not sure about their pricing tho. Haven't shopped there before but they build some nice trucks for customers from what I see following their IG...

You are quick! He was there last night. They called him when they came in. Both are spoken for but they are allocated for 7. He is #5 on the list and these are the first 2. They are thinking 9-10 weeks for him, although it could be sooner. I told him to email around to other dealers he was willing to drive to and see what happens.

He sent a message to Peter Hubris of Renton Toyota earlier this week and has not received a reply.
