This was the assessment on my truck both from the dealer and an independent engineer. It was the engineer who discovered the link to the Lexus mounts. They were not compatible, regretfully. I was given another double cab, which failed too when the engine mounts broke in around 2000 miles. The engineer told me that if I modified the truck, I had a high probability of developing another problem. I ended up selling the truck back to Toyota. After driving a 2017, I have no regrets. VERY POOR quality on Toyota and HORRIBLE customer service. The Twins [GMC/Chevy] use hydraulic mounts on the Colorado and the Canyon. Plan to buy a GMC/Chevy in 2018 if Toyota does not remedy.

People act like $41k is rolls-Royce money. This price argument is getting old

I'm in the same boat, still nervous about buying a GM produce as I've had a taco since the 1st gen and thought I always would. The Twins aren't bad though just not what I'm used to.

41k is a lot for me brother, I'm a firefighter. To top it off I support my family so my wife (who was a teacher) can stay home and teach my children 1 on 1 until they go to school. I need the truck for work and of course the activities we do as well (kayaking, camping, travel). I don't mind spending the cash but like I said 41k is a lot to have this many problems with no remedy in sight. Hopefully Toyota comes through and the 18 will be my next rig. My current truck won't make it past that. If not I'm Colorado/Canyon bound

That much I can agree with, but I think everybody expects the truck to be reliable. At minimum have fixes for the bugs. It's not like we are buying entry level commuters here. I've never had any big problems with my old and current taco. I want another one bad, I just want it to turn on every morning I go to work and be comfortable and safe while doing so or with my family. Not to have to worry about A faulty CPS causing the truck to shut off, bad rear diffs & crazy vibrations. Believe me I understand every time a model gets an overhaul I know there will be problems. Just want fixes for the owners and of course myself before I buy. Not just an extended warranty so when it does fail I'll be covered. I'd rather it just not fail at all

Quick sidenote, both my old and current taco were bought new and never have been to a dealer outside of scheduled maintenance. I'd like the same from whatever my next truck may be

Doesn't matter, some of the issues with the Tacoma are unacceptable for a new vehicle regardless of price.

I can, and have, jumped in a lot of cars wayyyyy cheaper than the Tacoma and have had zero vibration issues. And i mean new and used. I've also been in 10+ year old trucks that have never had their diff oil changed and are still silent. I can go on and on with how the Tacoma quirks and issues are baffling and how I'm really surprised so many people are so accepting of them, but I'd feel like I'm beating a dead horse.

I have never spent 40k on a vehicle in my life until now. And this Tacoma has more problems by far than any vehicle I've owned in the last 30 years, new and used. First the satellite radio went dead. Then right before a trip out west I notice my passenger seat is shaking pretty durn bad driving at 70mph. Had it fixed (road force balance) and now it's doing it again. And within the last couple weeks I noticed when I have a passenger that air bag is still showing off. This is ridiculous. My Nissans and Dodges have been a world more reliable than this, my first Toyota. Looks like I'll be going back to Nissan or waiting until Jeep beings the Comanche back out late next year.

Same thing with my seat but I've seen it before and did not get it RFB as I
didn't think that would resolve it. I've had the stock wheels w/ stock tires
and then put on ko2's and then went to trd wheels with the ko2's, same shit.

If you look at carcomplaints.com there is only 1 complaint about vibration at high speed.

It is not at "high speed" ,it is every time it is in the 2000 rpm range.

Regretfully, the quality has gone down. I had a 2005 Taco--no problems. Built in California at the plant where they now make the Tesla. Great truck. Strange the cost cutting Toyota uses. i.e., most double cabs outsourced to Mexico - pay $8 per hour to build trucks. Shave a few mils off the windshield--save $ -- Use rubber engine mounts and tell the customer that it makes it "tougher". What a joke.

I obviously didn't every post so I apologize if this is dumb question - Do owners of the 4 cylinders have the same vibrations?

I have been reading that it happens in the manuals and autos, so it can't entirely be the transmission. Someone mentioned that it could be engine mounts, or the change between Otto and Atkinson cycles - but the 4 Cyl. would not have that transition and may have different mounts (or the mounts might be better suited to the inline 4)

Any one with a 4cyl. affected?

Don't think there is a 4cyl report yet. It seems to be limited to the 6.

Never seen any report on the 4 Cylinder, either....I believe it is squarely shouldered on the 3.5 V6.

Good to know... from this it seems that its an issue with the v6, which makes me feel better that its probably isolated there, but worse because that doesn't sound like an easy fix :/
I guess I will test drive some 4 cylinders and see what i think of that beast.

Its called Kaizen, they try to tell the public that it stands for Constant or Continuous Improvement but on the inside that improvement is to making the product cheaper and faster.

That's a great term for a new thread. Hold on to that 2015 Taco.

Seems time frame on a Toyota solution is like waiting for hell to freeze over.

I know one person on this thread cured his buzzing vibration
with a Flowmaster American Thunder Cat Back Exhaust.

I'd like to know if anyone else tried the Flowmaster
    and what results they got.

Not saying I'm going that route , I personally would like the sound, others wouldn't I'm sure,
but it is an alternative to trading my Taco , which I'm thinking about daily...
