2013 Tacoma AC not strong enough

Ever since I've had my 2013 Tacoma double cab, I can never seem to get it cool enough on days above 80ish, which this year has been even more than ever. My AC does blow cool air on all fan levels so I know it's not an issue with the fan speed switch. It is more an issue with the AC or fan not being strong enough to cool the entire cabin and keep it cool. The only time it is somewhat okay is if the fan is constantly on high. But as soon as I turn it down to the next fan speed, it gets too warm again. Anybody else have this issue and what can be done about it. My guess is that either the AC, fan or #vents is undersized for the full double cab and they just put the same equipment in all size cabs. The car only has 30,000 miles on it so it should not be an issue of the AC needing re-charging, especially since this is an issue I've noticed ever since I owned it. Thanks.

 

Do you notice this all the time, or just when stopped in traffic? The radiator fan is known to be marginal (doesn't move enough air) with the engine at idle.

I've got a 2013 with about 65k and I haven't noticed anything wrong with mine. I usually have to turn the cool towards heat a little because of getting cold. I have tinted windows as well so that helps living in south Georgia.

 

I have the same problem at idle or low RPMs. If I crank up the RPMs it gets colder. '13 as well. I only notice if it's above 90 and humid.

 

I had a 2013 that I just sold and it was very cold(Arizona ain't no joke)

 

^Arizona does have the "benefit" of dry heat.

Get a vent thermometer like this one: Do a performance test like it's shown in this video. If performance is not up to par, suggest you take it to a good shop for diagnosis. Note: he's showing a 4Runner with automatic climate control. In the Taco, turn the temp knob to the coldest setting, which automatically enables recirc, so you will have to manually deselect recirc.
