No I really didn't give a shit, I just kept starting my truck with the air on getting the truck cool while I was in the house knowing I had what I said I had! I have not looked at the wiring to see if it is after market or not. It does what I wanted it to do, it starts my truck and it's on my factory fob, and as I said before it was free my dealer forgot to charge me! I had a viper alarm w/remote start on my former 01 F-250 it would shut off as soon as you stepped on brake to put it in gear it is a theft deterent same as the one on my taco if it didn't shut off when the door opens some one could steal it! It's a auto w/ push start which I hate! It's not new tech, it has been around since cars were invented, military still has it. I want a key, that way it doesn't cost $200-$400 to replace/ extra key, or have a fob or smart key that still has to have a regular key to lock/unlock glove box, tailgate or what ever! Sorry for rant, oldman syndrome kicked in :annoyed::sadviolin:

Totally agree , I was told I was lying by car salesman, he said I could not get the deal I said I was offered , so I screen shot the deal sheet. That dude called the dealer and accused them of trying to steal their customer . I let the Gm of their dealer know and Lexus corporate know his sales techniques

Must be a Toyota thing then cause the wife's Escape doesn't do that, you just get in and you have to press the brake and push the start button to unlock the shifter and steering wheel. It doesn't shut off.

Toyota will always kill when door is open, it's in the computer programming called takeover even using aftermarket devices. It's for safety.

I've personally witnessed the takeover without shutdown on the following vehicles with push button starts:

    1. 2016 F-150 King Ranch (friends)
    2. 2014 Cadillac SRX (moms)
    3. 2014 Chevy Traverse (sisters)

It can be done, I'm hoping they figure this out soon cause I'm not interested in starting the vehicle twice.

Here's a video showing how the OEM Toyota remote start works using the factory Smart Key. It's the same for the Tacoma.
Press the Lock button quickly 3 times, and hold it. Then it flashses and starts. Once you unlock it and get it, the vehicle will shut off and you will have to restart the vehicle.

This is the dealbreaker. I'm not doing it until they can find a way to keep it on. As I mentioned before, GM and Ford have figured it out, I'm sure someone will figure it out.

My nissan pathfinder will stay on after you open the door, but to take off you have to press the brake and start button once inside

I know this is late, but does the truck turn off when you open the door since it was dealer installed?
