i just bought one (Taco not Tundra) at msrp this morning. '17 TRD Pro 6MT with bed lights and charging/connectivity kit for $42,193. in DFW believe it or not. yesterday one dealer turned down an offer of $2k OVER msrp, and today i find and buy one AT msrp, same truck. crazy. it's just all about the dealer. some are interested in pre-sales and moving volume, others will hold their gems and haggle for a few extra bucks and don't mind slowing the movement for it.

Just stopped and spoke with inventory manager. A GST rep had stopped through and reviewed all the orders. I had requested a tonneau cover add. This is not available and didn't get flagged. Change order going in this afternoon to the rep. Manager felt it it will be allocated next cycle. "Fingers crossed"

People... stop paying absurd asking prices and dealers won't ask them anymore. I want one too but I'm not buying one for even MSRP let alone these absurd offers that people are getting turned down on. Let the dealer sit on one or two on the lot for a couple of months and they'll be more willing to play ball. I just can't believe people are willing to pay upwards of $50k for a Tacoma. Eesh.

hypothetical, makes sense, but in the real world here in DFW there are people in line to pay over. like i mentioned somewhere, a DFW dealer sales mgr came down to $4k over to negotiate with me when he wanted $5k over. because it will sell. this is a convenience society around here with large amounts of stress, conveniences, and money. and it's a sellers market for these things. most buyers don't have room in life for making a deal since it takes tons of time and legwork to score a "good" deal, especially here in DFW. lucky for me i found one and bought it at MSRP if you have the time, energy, and patience to put in. and be willing to walk..

They won't sit on the lot for longer than a week at MSRP. I'm happy to get one at MSRP.

They are selling for "crazy money' here too ... I hope their resale holds up when more units hit the street.

A Pro went for $51,999.00 here and another dealer had one for $49,999.000 ...

So let the fools part with their money. The problem is it's not generally people WITH the money to do so it's those WITHOUT money who are willing to pay $50k for a Tacoma. Why you ask? Because it's a horrible investment and a horrible way to spend your money. This is why people who have the money are willing to wait because they know that by the first half of next year you'll be able to find them on the lots of dealerships willing to negotiate pricing more. It's a "Seller's market" because fools are willing to pay all the money for these since they're just hitting the shores. Give it time. Be patient. The more people that are willing to be patient the sooner dealerships will start being reasonable with them. This is simple economics 101 from a guy who worked in sales for car dealerships in a past life.

What is the vinyl on the doors and dashboard like, is it rough like the TRDs or smooth like the SR5s/Limited? I'm not a big fan of the rough texture on my off road where I lean my elbow against the door.

They won't and that's partly my point. You pay $52k for one now and by spring time next year that same truck will be going for at least $7k less. So... without taking anything into consideration you'll be $7k upside down to those who are now paying below MSRP. This isn't that complex of a concept but people are willing to throw that much money out the window just to have it a few months earlier. I don't buy cars based off of MSRP I buy them based off of invoice and take hold-back and other hidden costs/incentives into account as well. My goal isn't always to beat a dealership up to get a car for a penny under their true cost to brag because everyone is in the business to make some money. What they're doing on TRD Pro's right now to some people is taking advantage of the impatient ignorant. If you want to be in that category then go right ahead. The more patient and educated people were on this topic though the sooner we would ALL be able to get TRD Pro's for a fair deal. Supply v. demand.
