Now I'm curious too. Will my TPMS sensors from my TRD Off Road work on the 17" TRD Pro Wheels? Im planning to swap them over instead of buying new ones. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Yes, they will work.

Me being Me, I just bought a full set of new sensors and put them on the new TRD wheels.

On my 2nd gen, I by passed the TPMS with a heavy 50a fuse. As a matter of fact the instructions to bypass the TPMS came from this site in the 2nd gen forum. I had to splice into the module located behind the a/c controls.

Im still pretty puzzled. I am trying to put 3rd gen wheels on my 2nd gen 2011 with steelies. I'm going to have to get new sensors, but that chart says if you have 2nd gen alloys you need PN 6011 , but 3rd gen alloys you need 6030?

So for me..i'm assuming i'll need 6011 to install into the 3rd gen OR wheels to mount on my 2011 2nd gen. I've been reading that the 2nd gen sensors should fit the 3rd gen wheels

Just use the TPMS from the steel wheels. Turn them around 180 degrees and you're good to go.

I'd like to add to this thread if you plan on buying a spare set of TPMS Sensors for an extra set of wheels, you will also need to buy the fit kit. This is the aluminum sleeve that goes on the outside of the wheel I believe. Part number is:

This kit also includes the rubber washer that you are supposed to replace when reusing sensors. So if you are moving your existing sensors to new wheels you really should get this. You need one for each wheel.

If you buy the sensors from Tire Rack, you do not need the kit as theirs come with the washer and nut that you need to mount them.

    Hey,

2017 tacoma here, going from factory 16 inch steelies to factory 16 inch gun-metal SR5 alum rims.

The factory TPMS sensors 42607-06030 (PMV-C015) will not work on the new rims.

The fit is close, but the angle of the seating surface on the alum rims is different than the steelies.

You can install and tighten down the tpms but they leak air around the seat.

I replaced seat gasket with the factory service kit (04423-0E010).

I held the sensor up with the steelie and alum rims side-by-side and I can tell right away the seat angle is different.

I rolled the TPMS sensor 180 degrees and it fits the alum rims, but that is not a viable solution.

I was considering ordering a single 42607-06011 sensor and try a test fit.

    Any help would be appreciated.

My SR5 had steel rims, the dealer sent it to a custom shop to have alloy rims/ new tires, just because.

After I bought the truck, I went to the custom shop to get a full size spare. They confirmed they used the steel TPMS sensors, just rotated them in the alloy rims.

21 months later, 22k miles, no issues yet.

You should be able to use the steel rim TPMS sensors in the alloy rims- not a perfect solution, but do-able.

Sure it’s a viable option. Many of us have done that exact thing. I’ve put over 20,000 miles on mine with no issues whatsoever. The dealer that did my tires told me that they wouldn’t guarantee it if I had a flat, but they didn’t charge me anything to do it, so I had nothing to loose. I could have bought all new TPMS sensors, or I could simply replace them one a time if they were damaged.

I have mine "flipped" and they have never worked right. The dealer fixed them once, and they stopped reading the pressures after the first rotation. Yes, I correctly did the reset. (multiple times). The yellow light is out on the dash, but no corner read-outs.

Also, heads up; 2016 4runner TPMS does not work in our trucks. I learned the hard way :(

I thought the 42607-06030 Sensor is the correct ones for Aluminum Wheels, did you ever get this worked out?

If you rotate your tires, do they have to be reset????

You do have the reset in the cab and then you have to drive like 10 miles or so for everything to register. The procedure is in the Owners Manual.
