OCTaco Braided Brake Lines - Sold!

King Shocks - $860

These are King 2.5" x 12" shocks with Compression Adjust knobs. They are brand new and valved for the rear end of a 2nd Gen. I was going to mount these similar to the BAMF mounts (I think you can use his mounts for these too). They are great shocks, they are now, never even used for mock up. Save $90 off retail and the wait.

 

How much longer than stock length. Interested. Can I use it for 2 in lift?

 

I don't know. When I spoke with OCTaco I told him I had extended travel front and was running the 12" relocation in the rear and he set them up. I will post overall lengths when I get home, but I don't know what stock length is. I know these are a lot longer.

 

This is in regards to the brake lines, as you did not specify.

There is such thing as way too long, but having a little extra length is not a bad thing. It will allow you to upgrade suspension in the future and not worry about it. You just need to route them nicely and they will work out great. It's up to you though. Talk to OCTaco and see what he says, he is the pro!

Info on brake lines: Rears are 26" long and fronts are 17" long.

Not sure your application. They will fit under the fender on the rear with custom mounts like the BAMF ones. You will require a wheel spacer. All depends on what your trying to do.

 

That's what I though, I'm tying not do any more welding on the truck this year .

Ultimately I'll need a set with that kind of travel, 2.5s with resis is probably overkill, not much desert around here. It's tempting though....

 

Not a sales tactic, I totally get where you are coming from, but her is my thinking on shocks.

2.5" is what I recommend for anyone doing offroading more than once or twice a year. Yes they are great for desert trucks and that is where we saw these originate. But a lot of people are quickly learning that the shock diameter is not just for desert guys. The only difference between a 2" and a 2.5" diameter shock is oil capacity! And believe me more oil is better. A 2.5" shock has substantially more oil, 36% more to be more specific. Not to mention the reservoir on a 2.5" shock typically carries more too. All that extra oil allows the shock to stay cooler longer, allowing the shock to work better longer! Once the oil gets hot (well hotter than it is supposed to, all shocks get hot), it stops allowing the shock to do it's job because it can flow easily through the valving unlike before.

So how does this apply to all styles of offroading? Well if you are doing a 3 day trek on the Mojave Road for example across the Mojave Desert from Barstow to Laughlin your probably hauling a lot of gear for the three days plus your finest Laughlin suit. Doing all those miles full of bumps and turns and wash boards and all that will be hell on small shocks when you add all the weight for your trip. So it's not just a desert racing, going 80 mph kind of deal. It is also great for expo or guys that like to spend more time out in the fun places. Whether you want a cool custom weld on mounted shock like these or an OEM replacement, I would always recommend a 2.5" diameter shock if you can swing it!

 

You're not wrong at all. When I do a relocate it will almost certainly get a set of 2.5s.
