Yeah. I've got an old Hurst patch somewhere. I think the county was moving toward Amkus when I left in '98. Hell, we only had Hurst units on the Rescues and Heavy Rescue. We had a Porta-Power kit on our Engine.

I creaked and groaned every time my weight shifted left, right, or forward. I just bought the truck, and told them a $30,000 truck shouldn't have a creaking seat. They tried to repair it, but couldn't, so it was replaced with a new one. Noise came from the lower back area, mech and serv writer both heard it. New seat is good as gold.

Very good Man! I had '01 SR5 Taco and looked into buying a OEM sport seat from Toyota at the time and they said it would be crazy expensive because they have to order each part individually. That's good the plan picked up the cost for Ya!

It was a mess to start with, 1st they got a used frame from a junk yard(used parts yard), intended on installing the foam and cloth on it, but was a standard seat, I have the sport seats. Then they got another frame, it was bent, (really from a wrecked truck), I'm so surprised. So they then went with a new one, so happy I didn't have to pay for that, or put up with a noisy seat every time I turned. Time will tell if I got a good warranty, but it looks good so far. At first I was sorry I bought the truck, and told them exactly that, but feeling better now, I do enjoy driving it.

I was a volunteer with Volusia County at Station 12 from 94-98. I was removed from combat firefighter status in late 1998 due to excessive scar tissue in my lungs from the wildfires that year. They gave lightweight gear and respirators to career personnel and the guys that came in from out of state to assist. Volunteers were stuck in old structure gear and airpacks with steel bottles (great during the summer lugging hand tools through palmettos). Most of us ended up out there in jeans & t-shirts with a bandana covering our nose and mouth. Fun times.

That's what they do to volunteers most of the time. Treated poorly for there own free time. Thanks for doing what you did.

It was a fun time for sure:

At one point, ALL of Flagler County was evacuated. The entire freaking county.

FEMA did an interesting write up and analysis as well:

i couldn't imagine fighting a massive brush fire, we had a small 1/4 acre brush fire last night, only used 330 gallons. Also under palmettos ...

Being rural, we used water sparingly (normally just near structures or power poles). The bulk of the fighting was done with shovels, rakes, and flappers. I was lucky enough to have the training captain as our incident commander (he was in training due to being injured his first day on the job, so he had very limited real world experience). He put us into some situations we never should have been in, but we somehow made it through without anyone dying.
