I think there are saps out there just like us - wondering if there is life on other planets as well.

With as large as the universe is, I don't think we'll ever find each other. Distances are too great.

But with as many planets as there are (billions of billions of billions), there is a good chance that at least ONE of those has the ability to support life. Hell, we've identified a few in our short sight that are capable.

I don't believe in ghosts or anything supernatural. But I do think life exists out there.

I dunno, call me a pessimist, but I think that aliens are just going to be hostile. Look at us, were totally hostile.

The AVATAR aliens were pretty awesome. I'd move to Pandora in a flash. I just wish I could breathe the atmosphere without the gas-mask thing.

You're Right! I'd probably have to modify my Tacoma, so I'd fit into it!

We know; the story is not original. It was a cool 3D movie nonetheless.

Yeah, I wished I would have seen it on I-max. :S I'd consider paying another $15-$20 to see it again.

But I was trying to point out to the people who would move to pandora is that all they would have to do is get a Diving Cert and go see our ocean.

Do you know the night seen where everything was glowing? Google 'Bioluminescent'. I’ve been on a few night dives where every little movement causes the water to glow. It’s crazy…

There is no way that we're the only sophisticated form of life out there...space is so big and so deep that we can't even comprehend it! There are millions and millions of other galaxies out there...think about it...:alien:

Even though the perfect combination of events had to take place for life as we know it to happen on Earth, with how large the universe is, I have to think there has to be. A shame that we'll probably never know what's out there since any life that may exist is far beyond our limits of exploration. Makes you wonder though and I have always found this stuff to be fascinating.

either. I was pondering this the other day. there was a photo on MSN and it showed like 6 different galaxies in one picture. and inside each galaxy there are solar systems (plural) it would be dumb to think that this is the only planet with life on it. intelligent or not.

I also believe in evolution - mostly because science can prove that it's true. So even if life is only microscopic, it will eventually develop into something intelligent.

With the expanse of the universe, one planet out there has had their microscopic life develop into something intelligent (other than earth).

Science and God are not mutually exclusive. I myself am an ordained, seminary educated minister and I have no problem with evolutionary theory. I also do not have a problem believing there is life elsewhere in the universe. For that matter, there could be millions of inhabited planets. One can consider such possibilities and still have a very deep faith in God. Anyone who thinks otherwise just needs a bigger God.

That is so awesome you got to dive and experience bioluminescence first hand! Rock on, my hat is off to you! :headbang:

I respect all viewpoints, and hopefully most here will too, but for the sake of us all please don't bring up the subject of religion... There is no faster way to have a thread locked. And we don't want johnv to come in here and ruin this great thread we have going. :) PAHLEASE!!

I don't know about the rest of you but when I saw E.T. it scared the living daylights out of me. Those guys with in the hazmat suits with the breathing apparatus and plastic tunnels and such. F!

E.T. was a cool alien though. I wonder if they'll ever remake that movie.

VA...great post! Without different opinions on stuff, we would never be motivated to seek the truth. I don't want to start a debate on evolutionism because that is an ENTIRELY different thread. I believe in it but I respect your beliefs as well.

I have also swam with bioluminescence at night - actually skinny dipped in them. Truly an awesome experience! We had girls jumping out of the water and their boobs would glow for a second. From the beach, the waves were literally GLOWING!

This is what it looked like up and down the beach:
