I'll see if my buddy next door can give me a hand with moving the cap but if not I will have the local dealer do it. He sounded like a good guy when I called to ask few general q's

 

My local dealer charged me $45 to reseal mine. He removed all of the old stuff and installed a double layer on the sides.

 

I may just return the seals I bought and go this route

 

The dealer completely removes the shell and set it on the floor standing on the front window to remove and replace the seals. If you aske them they may even hook up your brake and interior lights as well.

 

You have now convinced me to call them first thing on Monday. Thanks

That habitat looks to be roomier inside than a Flip Pac. I take it that you can hangout in the front of the canopy, while someone takes a nap on the reare overhang.

 

A truck supply installer wired the light on the inside of the truck cap and the 3rd brake light I had on a '03 Dakota. 2 years down the road when it rained my left rear turn signal would act up. I learned a valuable lesson not to let them cut into your trucks wiring. Even after I sold the cap back to him I had problems with the left turn signal.

 

I guess I've been lucky. I have never had any problems when they hooked mine up. When I got my most recent shell I did the wiring myself because I wanted a constant hot wire for the interior light and a future 12 volt power outlet. I also made the wires so I could disconnect them without having to remove the tailight.

 

Yep, tons of room and everything was carefully engineered. All aluminum, solid construction. Even the tent wasn't an after thought. Made by Nemo tents. Very high quality. I couldn't be more impressed.

 

Picking up a Leer Z-series tomorrow that has Yakima tracks on it, but no cross bars. I am going to hopefully build a ERMB rack (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ermbs-d-i-y-rack-system-build.433500/#post-12512597) for it this Fall, but I leave for Moab on Friday and there wont be time. Anyway, I am looking for something I can slide into the Yakima track to use as one end of a hammock mount. Anyone have a cargo tie down they recommend that fits into the Yakima track? I could buy a q-tower for it, but it would be a bit of a waste when I build a rack. Thoughts?

I don't know if I would apply that kind of lateral force to a track system, but it might work I suppose

 

Good point, I guess I overlooked that. I planned on hanging it off the front of my ARB to the roll cage on a friend's jeep. But I figured if I could get a bit higher that would be better. I'll look up the lateral load for the track.

 

You know thinking about it it might work if your whole rack was tied together to the track system, and you attached to that, I was imagining a stand alone tower off the track , and how it might leverage the force

 

Been lurking for a while, still hopeful I can find a short bed cap for a decent price. Everything I find is long bed, the one short bed I find is sold out from under me.

 

Is your truck lifted at all?

 

Had the same issues for almost two years before I purchased a new one.

 

I didnt scroll through all 250 pages but i dont see many ARE overlands and im curios why? I just ordered one with all the goodies. $2200 out the door.

I think the linex will look sweet, i have a lot of flat black on my gloss black truck and i dig the looks.

 

I think it's because of the price for one. Most people are looking for a bargain, which usually means they are looking for a good used one for about half of what a new one cost, sometimes even more.

 

After 3 months of looking and a less than 24hour departure to Moab deadline I found a DCSB canopy yesterday! Sure the color isn't right, but a deal is a deal $400 off CL.

The funny part is that I have a tradition of mismatched canopies that I thought you guys might appreciated. I'm thinking I'll get this painted when I get back, but for now I am happy with it!
