OEM Audio Plus

Nice write up and review. I've been looking at this system myself and I think you just convinced me to take the plunge as well. Can you provide more details on the Navi bypass and the AV interface? Model #'s or links? I've got an iphone as well and would love to do that to mine.

The iPhone mirroring acts like a source input, lik AM, FM, CD...It will replicate what is on the iPhone. Only one source will function at a time. If you are using iPhone mirroring (AV in) then only that source will play on over your speakers. The bypass and iPhone mirroring kit work together, you will also need to purchase a few cables and adaptors. Below is a link to the kit and required parts. Do you need it,,,more than likely not, but it is cool as Shit! Waiting on the front camera integration kit!

For the OEM Audio Plus System, if you just want clean and accurate sound that is for the most part a drop in system it is the way to go.
Again, if you are looking for a system that pounds the bass (like 2 10s in a ported enclosure) this is not the system for you.

I'm planning to do the front camera as well; here's one I found on Amazon that would be perfect. I've been looking at a couple different plug-n-play source switchers but the iphone integration is definitely a must.

Nope, you're confused, I'm trying to help the OP. I have no idea who you are or what FTFY means. I'm saying he should cancel his account based on how the thread started with people bitching and whining at him, plus the standard "and ignored" posts that somehow are tolerated around here. I see it all the time. Genuine people getting pushed away by the membership. I was just disappointed to see another new member go through the BS of getting their question answered by children.

Seems like a lot. For that type of money the system you could piece together would severely trump it. I get it though. Ease of install and clean install go a long ways.

 

I installed this system about two weeks ago, minus the subwoofer. I have an access cab, and I need the room in the back for dogs and gear. I installed the speakers first, and the amp a few days later. Definite sound upgrade with just the speakers, but with the amp it sound awesome. It does need some low end, but without a sub I expected that. I play all MP3 files, and they sound great. I have installed aftermarket systems in my vehicles for many years, and my brother and best friend worked for car install shops. I do not think you can get better sound for the money than OEM plus. You can get a comparable system for the same money or less, but you will not get the ease of the plug and play install. Install took me around 6 or 7 hours total, but I installed FatMat in the doors and back panel at the same time. OEM customer service is excellent, Daniel will respond to any question or concern immediately. Be careful installing the tweeters, I dropped a bolt into the dash and it took forever to find it.

If you want to rattle your windows or have cops and old people give you the stink eye as you drive by, buy something else. If you want good, clean sound that will get loud when you want and an install that is perfectly set up for your truck, OEM plus is the way to go.

 

did you buy the whole kit and just not instal the subwoofer?
i want one for my DCSB but have NO interest in the sub and i tried to ask tacomabeast if i could order without and they blocked me lol

 

Dealing with OEM up front instead of second party is probably your best bet. Their customer service is awesome.

If you don't want the sub because you don't want it to rattle your brains out, this isn't that kind of sub lol it seriously doesn't hit hard but compliments everything else in the system perfectly.

I ordered the Reference 450Q today. I'll def post some feedback on here.

I used to be big on aftermarket stereos and perfecting the sound in my vehicles. I am a little older now and just don't have the time. Hoping this system is finely tuned for crisp sound and simplicity.

 

5 months with mine and still no regrets. iPod is my main source and the quality of those files is critical.

 

I ordered the C3 kit for $999. Comes without the sub. Still has great sound, but I can hear where a sub would add that low end. Great system, great customer service.

You're right. I use an Ipod too, and crappy files sound crappy on a $3000 system. Good files sound outstanding on my OEM system, much better than radio or XM.

 

I installed the C3 kit with my non-JBL stereo and added an

$306 Alpine PWE-S8 120W Compact Powered 8" Car Subwoofer for Under or Behind The Seat

Alpine PWE-S8 sub. It sounds great and I'm quite particular about the sound quality.

I can definitely tell the quality of whatever I'm playing and am now going through my iPod music selecting the high quality recordings.
