I don't own the unit but did consider it before i got my deck. Alpine has great ipod controls through the headunit that are very user friendly. I own the Alpine CDA-9887 and love the ipod controls. Since you don't want the cd this would be a good deck for you unless you want to run a high powered system.

I have the X305 in my Subaru. Love it. Very fast and intuitive. Works great with my iPod classic.

There were a few things that I found annoying at first, but since I don't even remember what they were, they must not have been that big a deal.

    Any specific questions?

Nah not at the moment. Ive been watching the vids on youtube. Ive got an ipod classic that Ill be hooking up as well and just want something that works smoothly with it. It seems many HUs out there struggle in regards to having a smooth ipod interface.

5% tint all around, Alpine IVA-W505, 16x8 Mojave Teflon Rims w/Hercules Terra Trac 265/75, Grillcraft Grill, Slimcubby HIDs, Front 5100's @ 0 w/Eibach 1.6" springs, URD Short Shifter, Extang Trifecta Tonneau Cover, Uniden Pro510XL and K30Mag Mount, Relentless Fab Bumper soon to come
ive had the cda-9886 and currently have the w-505. both have had a few connectivity issues like freezing up and no sound but restarting the ipod solves the problem. i've heard that the units are very picky with the 2nd gen ipod touches and all generations of the iphone

Remember that this is in my Subaru, not my Tacoma (and it was pretty late/dark when I took the pics):

No problems at all. Like it a lot because it also charges the ipod while it is plugged in. Very easy to see and really enjoy the color screen.

I have this one as well. Besides a freezing iPod from time to time, it works great.
