hmmmm, can't remember, it was a while ago. With the thud noise yours makes I would say the actually bearing has separated from the rubber around it, thats where the play is coming from.

 

There should be a little play, but yours has too much in my opinion. You probably know about this write up on here but I will post it in case. I didn't need a puller to get the CB off. I was lucky and it just slid off. The write up recommends re seating the newly installed CB with the old nut at 134 ft lbs then back out the nut and install new nut to 54 ft lbs and re stake the nut. No problem, happy to help. I think it will take away the majority of the vibes if not all. I did my CB myself and front and rear u joint but I let it go too long and still have vibes. I think I need to take it in and have the shaft re balanced. This is what others needed to do that put it off. Hopefully you are good after the CB replacement.

 

No problem. I love to help. Make sure you grease the drive line too. I had a slight clicking around a certain speed after the new CB install, it went away after greasing.

 

Did yours have a similar amount of play?

 

Not as much as yours but yes some. It would squeak bad at slow speeds. I just replaced it since I would be removing the whole drive shaft to replace the u joints and to rule it out as the problem. I went through www.partznet.com. They sell oem parts for cheaper than what a Toyota dealer would charge. If you can go oem I would recommend it. Read too many problems with premature wear on aftermarket brand CB's

Yeah, that's it. I think I paid 147 for it. Looks like it went up in price a bit. Same part #, I double checked. Here is the nut that is recommended you replace with the old one. I got it from Toyota but they may have it on this website too.

 

I got 1.5 years outa the Dorman one before the rubber sagged and cracked apart. Lifetime warranty though...

 

I value my time and I never understood the allure of the "lifetime warranty." I'd be buying OEM to save myself the assache of replacing cheap parts that fail way too soon.

Washed the other two front seat belts. Ew.

Pulled dents from a accident on the passenger side of the cab. Done by previous owner. Cleaned 16 years of Alabama red dirt road out of the parts I removed for the dent removal.
