OK, I give up... what is the difference between parking lights and the Daytime Running Lights on the 2016 Tacoma SR5 Package. Most DRL's I have seen on other vehicles were white lights. When I switch from DRL to the Parking Lights the only difference I see is the DRL is just a bit brighter. Am I missing something here?

EDIT: Question was answered completely on Post 21 of this thread.

What do you mean by "Parking Lights"?

Most Tacoma DRLs just use the front amber indicators. On the DRL setting you will have the front indicators on. The parking lights will also run your rear lights in addition to your front. Some trucks (at least 2nd gens) use high beams with reduced wattage as the DRLs, but they seem much less common.

The DRLs are just the small LEDs at the bottom of the housing that form a curved line.

There are 5 lights on the front of the truck

    Fog Light
    Low Beam (Projector)
    High Beam
    And the Parking/turn signal/DRL
    Side Marker

On the stalk is Off, DRL, Parking Light Setting, and On. To me there is not much difference between the DRL setting and Parking Light Setting. I am wondering if mine is not working as I am reading on some Toyotas in DRL the Parking Light and the High Beam are both supposed to be on but the High Beam at a lower wattage setting. I am calling the dealer now.

DRL's are the white LED's that form the "L" shape on the side to lower edge of the headlight housing. The "parking lights" you're speaking of are the orange lights

I have a TRD OR, which I guess has slightly different configuration... my stalk has different settings, including an "Auto". Sorry can't be of help.

That is what I was expecting. My SR5 doesn't have those.

I'm confused... you say there are "5" lights, but you list only 4.

Yep... when I re-read I found I left out the side markers. Corrected now.

The LEDs only come on TRD and above trims. The DRLs only turn on your front brights on a low setting. The parking lights turn on your tail lights and dim your dash lights as well. The soul purpose of DRLs is to improve visibility so people see you coming easier, thats why it only turns on your headlights.

That is not happening. Must be broke or a setting is off. Can this be configured in the Radio? I may have to go look or stop by the dealer.

It doesn't change from when it is in the Parking Lights setting. Only the Amber Parking/Turn signal lamp is lit on each side.

Oh ok. I got it confused with the 4runner. So its the center turn signals that are used as the DRLs. correct?

Hm.. I thought only SR comes with amber DRL, rest of the models from SR5 and up should have LED under headlight.
    That's weird.

Well I found the spec sheet. The only difference between the SR and SR5 is the Fog Lamps. As stated above only the TRD and above packages have the LED's.

Dealer is looking into this now.

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
I just saw a '16 SR5 drive by and it's DRL's were definitely either a high or low beam on a lower wattage out put... Ambers were not on. My TRD OR has LED's as stated above so i cannot compare it to yours, but i have never seen a '16 with amber DRL's, it's always the regular lamps at a lower wattage output or the LED's if so equipped. Here is a thought... My wifes Subaru DRL's are incandescent low beams and they are only on when the car is in a forward or reverse gear. Could that be the case with Taco's that use the headlight as a DRL which would make it hard for you to check by yourself?

My 5th gen 4Runner so as 16 Tacoma has amber lights for DRL.
