I have a 2016 SR5. The DRLs, parking and blinkers are all the same amber bulb. When DRL is selected on the stalk, it just lights up the front amber bulbs, and when you put on your blinker, they flash. When you select the parking lights on the stalk, the front amber lights and the rear red lights come on, and the interior backlighting for the speedometer and tachometer come on. When you turn on your low beams, the parking lights come on, and the projector low beam comes on (and the interior backlighting).

That's It! OK, it was confusing the hell out of me that there was no difference in the front. The difference is the No Rear Lighting and the Gauge Cluster doesn't dim.

Thank you all for the helping solve the mystery.

Now that I go back I see that part. Was still not getting through my brain.

@jht So what is the bulb size for the turn signal/daytime/parking?? I want to change them out for switchback lights but on the manual there is two different sizes.....7442NA for the three different functions and under that says "Front turn signal lights *3: WY21W".....don't know which one is the right one....

I used the 7442NA on my SR5. The WY21W is for the other models that have the LED strip for the DRL.

Limited wheels, extra rope hooks in bed.
I believe when the DRL are on, the front amber lights, they are very bright in the DRL and parking lights mode but dim quite a bit when you turn the headlights on.

The SR5 does not have LED's anywhere.

Sr5 uses the amber lights as DRL, not the led DRL that the trd models have.

Question on the US 2016 Toyota Tacoma SPORT model....it has the DRL option on the signal stalk switch. When in Off position - no daytime running lights. Note, I live in Canada.

Transport canada REQUIRES in order to pass their reqs test that the DRL lights come on when the truck is on with the signal switch set to the OFF position. Can the truck be changed using a software settings mod to achieve "always on" DRL or do I have to replace the switch with a TYPE A or C unit at a dealer?

    thx.

I'm surprised this thread just died. I changed my headlights out to LED's and I've been very disappointed with the reduced light output over stock.

I feel I'd be happy if I could find the mod you referenced about having the DRL on full output while running my headlights but I can't seem to find anything anywhere on this site.

Does anyone else have any input or @mackendw did you find a solution?
