Keep checking Craigslist. You can set it up to get alerts when one gets posted. We are lucky in WNC because we are so close to the other states around us. Keep an eye out for a truck with a shell on it in a used car lot as well, some of the dealers will sell you the shell.

Drained the Summer Motor Oil out and put in Early Fall Oil with a New OEM filter that I purchased from the Duke Of Deals AKA @Unchained 5150. Topped the Battery off and all other checkable Fluids. :mudding:

Sitting at the body shop waiting to pick up my truck again. Been in the shop for more than four weeks since I hit a deer. Shop had it for three weeks, I had it back for two days and had to bring it back for numerous issues. They've had it a week since then. After this go around I guess it will just have to be good enough.

Rainy day mod. Simple, yes, but finally put a hose clamp on my tail gate. Used a square head to make it a little harder to get off.

Why? Hold them accountable to deliver the truck like it was before it was damaged. That is their job! Your job it make sure they do their job. :duel::thumbsup:

I had to deal with something similar last year. Some asshole walked across an airport parking lot on the car roofs, and mine was too bad to be fixed. Went to the shop selected by and guaranteed by my insurance company - great ratings and reviews - to have a new roof put on. First time I found runs. Second time I found that they burned through the clear trying to buff out the runs, and they also messed up the top trim in the process. Called my insurance company and told them I was not going back for a third time. Their shop, their grantee. They hooked me up with an adjuster who handles these types of grantee/quality issues. He couldn't find shop in his network that wanted to correct another shops work - they avoid getting into other people's messes. I made it his problem and pestered him relentlessly until he found a place - a Chevy dealer - in the next county over. They pulled it all apart and found all kinds of issues. Bad glass install, third break light attached with silicone, cut headliner...a real hack job. Took them over $5k to do a job that was previously quoted for $2k because they had to strip it all back down, replace lots of parts that the last place fucked up, and then do it the right way. Of course, it wasn't perfect this time either, so I refused delivery and wouldn't give them back my rental car keys, and made them do it again. I am lucky that I have a good relationship with my agent, and that we have all of our policies with her office because she backed me up. It was a huge pain in the ass and I was without my truck for 6 weeks, but it's perfect now. The only satisfaction that I got was that the first shop had to pay the second shop for the re-fix and my rental car - and I hope the little punk who was responsible got fired - and the second shop had to cover their issues. I doubt anyone learned a lesson that will improve future quality, but I got what I needed and a certain amount of justice. Bottom line, be ready to waste a ton of time, but if you don't accept a less than perfect job, you can eventually get one. It just sucks that so many shops are okay with crap work that they wouldn't put up with on their own vehicles. Bigger crooks than the tool that damaged my truck in the first place!

so what might be the hold up here? if my old cripled up ass can go out and put the lift on by myself i'm sure a young energetic person such as yourself should have no problem.

This is the route I am going to be taking. I will reach out to my adjuster tonight or first thing tomorrow. The shop I used has had the truck for a total of four weeks and it is still not right. They fixed/corrected about a third of the issues I returned it for. I now have the warranty enhancement headlights again, and my AC works. But the paint issues with the flares and the misalignment of the hood remain. They simply do not match the OEM finish of the undamaged flares. The owner of the shop flat out admitted to me when I picked it up that he, "has no idea how to match the graininess of the OEM finish on the flares. I got them from Toyota and painted them" So it is up to my adjuster how they want to handle it from here, but I am like you Paul, my truck is not going back to the same shop for a third time, especially when they have already admitted they don't know how to fix the main issues I am complaining about.

applied some hands on knowledge on how to drop the spare tire. found out that the OEM breaker bar does not fit the lug holes. and Learned that the dealer gave me a cheap ass tire that was using a Tube to stay inflated :frusty:

Now I have to charge for a new set of tires. Whats the chances i can fit 285s with a 2" block lift?
