I have a 2010 A/C and the dealership here in CT is "evaluating" the situation after I took the truck there and complained of the rough ride.

Check the part numbers on your shocks. In fact, they may have already upgraded them.

I just made my appointment with a service adviser this Saturday, we will see if they cover it on my 05 with 42K on it. I have the platinum warranty so the adviser thinks I should be good to go. He didn't know about it either so I have to print it and bring it in with my appointment.

I just called Toyota's customer service number, 1-800-331-4331, explained to that I was experiencing bottoming out and a harsh ride when ever I tow our small trailers or load more than a few hundred pounds (thanks for the tip, khfactor). The very nice customer service rep explained to me that the "Rear Springs Harsh Ride" TSB has been extended to the 2009 and 2010 vehicles, provided me with a case number, and then told me that I would have to have a dealer diagnose/verify the problem. We'll see how that goes...

Glad to hear my little tip helped you out. One thing I cannot believe is that 2010 models are being produced with the same problems that 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 models were experiencing. I guess it is all about $$$. But Toyota does not have to stoop this low to achieve their bottom $$$... Pathetic, if I have to say so....

Just got mine back--it does sit a little higher in the rear end. It rides a little rougher, but not bad. I think that may settle down some as the springs do. It'll show if it was worth when I pull my boat this summer.

Edit: got up late this morning and forgot to take pics. I fail at the intarwebz..

After I got the tsb done, when I picked the taco up my service writer asked to let him know how I liked it. All I can say, is the ride is not at all like they told me it would be.It is a little bit stiffer but still a comfortable ride. The tsb raised the rear about 1 3/4 inches. Glad I got it done.:yay::yay:

Now you should go ther and get the Tailgate TSB done for your 07 Taco. I did. They will give you a brand new Tailgate. Faulkner Trevose gave me NO hard time about it... But print the TSB and have it in hadn when you make the appointment.;)

The TSB for the '09 is the same as for all the 2nd Gen Tacos: T-SB-0305-08 and has apparently been extended to the '10s.

I called the dealer yesterday and they're ordering my replacement springs, no hassel, no fuss. I explained to him that my ride quality is crap when I tow either of our small trailers and that my truck swayed like a drunken sailer when I hauled four bales of hay last week. This was the final straw, if you will pardon the pun. I should be able to haul four bales without trouble. Interesting to see a similar trend: 4 bales total almost 500 lbs. This seems to be the crossover point for many of us dissastisfied with the springs.

The service rep (who owns a Tacoma), did warn me that the ride would be much harsher unloaded, but, given that I use my truck as a truck, I would be much happier. He said they've done this TSB for a number of customers who need adequate load carrying capacity and they are always pleased.

I can't help feeling that Toyota is more concerned about reducing the number of complaints about their trucks driving like trucks, rather than producing trucks that can do their job without modifications. I don't get this, though. Why buy a truck and then complain that its bumpy? Buy a car if you want a plush ride. Jeeze

I've been thinking about this a lot, lately. It must be cheaper to produce trucks aimied at a comfy ride and then replace the springs for the minority who want their truck to function as a truck, rather than a car. Philosophically, I have a hell of a hard time accepting this, though. Such an approach really waters down the authenticity of these trucks as trucks and certaintly contributes to the perspective that Toyotas are not as tough as domestic trucks (which has been an ongoing dialogue with my Ram-driving wife and Ford driving father). I love my truck more than any vehicle I have yet purchased, but I have never had to deal with all of these little bugs and defects with any of my Fords or Dodges. Its a good thing I didn't choose Toyota this time due to quality. I wouldn't even mind the bugs and defects if the dealers weren't such a pain in the ass to deal with. (Again, Ford and Chrysler have always bent over backwards to address complaints - what's up Toyota?)

Aside from irritating defects, this truck performs off-road better than anything I've driven, even my Jeep. And I absolutely love it for that. I don't regret my decision to buy a Tacoma.

How about inadequate carrying/towing capacity and unsafe handling characteristics when carrying under 500 lbs.?

"Swaying like a druken sailor" worked for me for the factory warranty claim. :)
