You won't. You'll have to do cutting, hammering, and welding to fit it. If you're ok with that, I'll give more details. Otherwise go with 265/70r17 or 265/75r16 and pick an aggressive tire

Even if you're lifted 3" you won't be able to properly clear 285s without aforementioned cutting and what not. Just letting ya know:thumbsup:

No, I mean the CMC, pinch weld hammering, plastic cutting, etc. The spare is another pain too

damn you know that's what i'm running 285's with pretty much the same lift you have all i had to do was remove the mudflaps and snip the bottom inside corner of the front flares. no cmc no hammering din't even have to trim the inner fender liner

Not necessarily. I have 285s and my bilsteins @2.5 and I didn't trim shit. And my yota is far from a pavement princess. Only removed the mudflaps

    You either

    • Are lying
    • Have a non aggressive tire (aggressive ones have a greater tendency to rub)
    • Haven't properly stuffed your tire
    • Or all of the above
Simple as that. BUT I'm not about to turn this thread into a 3rd gen shitshow thread because I love this thread. If your setup works for you, that's great. 99% of people running 285s have to trim and hammer shit, so if someone asks "Can I run them with no trimming?" the answer is no.

    Now,

Oh, and if anyone's wondering... you can stuff 4 adults and 4 kids into a DCSB. :muscleflexing:

    Don't ask.

no i don't have an agressive tire rt now, and you are correct at least some modification somewhere will have to be made. but no need for a cmc or anything that much and yes it has been at full stuff. and i agree with you 100% about this thread i wasn't trying to start any kind of debate. my modifications have been minor i guess i'm lucky

Where'd you get those tie-downs, and how did you mount them? Perhaps a stupid question, I just want to know how they're attached really. That's something I really miss about my '98, having rings like that in the front corners of the box. Really great for strapping shorter stuff (like a cooler) to the front side of the bed.

    • Telling the truth
    • 285/70/17 Toyota AT on fuel hostages
    • Stuffed it plenty a time, look at my build thread.
    • I'd say it's more of a 70/30 split of those that do and don't rub. I happened to be a lucky one. Read around there are plenty of threads/discussions of people stating exactly what I just said

Oh and what did I do to my Tacoma today? Drove it to work without the tires rubbing :brianr: and I'm wheeling it later tonight :luvya::yay:
