After this, I'd never take part in one that was run through an individual, instead of the company itself. Pop n' Lock didn't do us any favors on this order, but a large part of the problem has been delays and lack of communication by Dan himself. Just crazy that it's been 2 months since the product arrived at his house (and in some cases, closing in on a year since those people paid), and he can't even update the status, much less go mail the stupid things.

Glad I gave up on Dan months ago and just paid the extra $5 to buy it through TruckAlterations...

I won't say that I would never participate in a group buy again but I will ask if the individual has ever managed one. Dan didn't know what he was getting himself into on this. He's a college kid that plays sports - between studying, partying and practice, I don't imagine there is any free time for this 'hobby'.

I can't believe this isn't over yet either. I received my 5300 a couple months ago and I thought the rest were sent out too.

And yet no one has made contact with him? I have to thank whoever called his mom because that got his ass in gear. If I was still waiting, first I would ask for my money back. If there was no response, I would take more drastic measures to reach him.

As long as no threats are made...

Wow.... I can't believe this is still going on either...

I have seen this happen a few times on various sites.

When an individual takes a on the management of a group buy with no profit factored in for themselves a few bad things happen. First, they tend to lose their drive on it when it becomes a pain. Not an excuse but a fact anyway. When they factor no money for incidentals they usually end up losing money on the deal. Thats never fun and for a college kid who probably has little to begin with its even worse. Again, not an excuse but a fact.

Pop&Lock turned this into a mess to begin with. A dealer would have known this would happen as they are used to P&L dragging their feet.

Dan had issues with boxes. If he were a dealer he would have known he could order the locks bulk packed which means they come in a box ready for shipment and cost about $2 less from P&L than the clamshell retail packages.

As a dealer who is used to shipping items he would have known how it works and not had so many issues with increased freight costs, etc which have likely both stressed him and with money counted to the penny all the running around to the post office likely has him in the hole...

None of this is an excuse for not delivering what he promised. But it likely does explain whats going on.

I realize as a dealer I am biased but IMO this is why group buys run by an individual direct with the manufacturer are usually a bad idea. Most people who are retail shoppers have no idea what a pain it can be to deal with a manufacturer, get an order organized and get it out the door on a mass scale. Not quite like selling your old junk on ebay like most people think it is.

Hopefully Daniel will come through for the few of you who are still waiting... But I would be finding him and getting in touch ASAP...

It is also very easy for a college kid who is just scraping by to "borrow" funds set aside for one thing and appropriate them to something else temporarily with good intentions of having the funds replaced in time for using them. But when things don't go as planned they can find themselves in a hole. I am not saying this is the case but it is a very possible scenario. And if so spending funds on shipping other peoples stuff is not priority one. This doesn't help those still waiting and it doesn't make it right.

Daniel just needs to nut it up and explain what is going on regardless of the situation.

This may not get us our locks, but for those of us who haven't reported anything to paypal. Is there a way for us to report him to paypal and get his account closed for good? At least that may stop him from scamming someone else. I sent him a very nice pm last week and have not heard anything......I don't know just thinking out loud I guess.....

I believe you are past the date for filing claims with Paypal... but if you funded the paypal transaction with a credit card (not debit card) you can likely still file a claim through them...

Yeah, I would be concerned that he has run with the money.

His last post was 1 month ago and a response to this thread about the locks not fitting in a box.

How much money is he sitting on?
How many locks is he sitting on that he can turn around and sell on eBay?

Contact the postal authorities. They frown upon idiots messing with their system. Mail fraud is a no, no with them.

All I can say is wow. I thought I waited a long time when I got mine back in September or October (don't remember when it was exactly). If I were still waiting, I think I'd be considering a call to the local authorities in VA on a report of stolen merchandise. Whether it's intentional or just a case of a young college kid acting irresponsibly, in my view it's considered theft at this point in the game.

I remember some months back Daniel complained about someone threatening his mother which was totally uncalled for. However, if someone still has Daniel's mother's phone number perhaps someone could politely give her a call and explain what is going on here and perhaps she can get Daniel to end this situation.

having the locks does him no good unless he sells them somewhere else. it's not like he can just use the money since supposedly p&l has it and he has the merchandise.

im curious as to how many people gave him EXTRA money on top of the $600 worth of locks hes already sitting on.
