For ontario Toyota is saying 4.29. I definitely plan to try and get a lower rate.

I feel sorry for your nephew paying that insurance. Ouch, I can only imagine what a 370Z on a 19 year old cost. Unless he's under his parents.

I just realized you get a better price if you have trade in?
I was just putting in some stuff after a build on the website and put my down payment in trade in value instead, if I had a 25K trade in instead of down payment I'd get $60 a month less.

Anyone know why 25K trade in helps with monthly payments instead of 25K down?

You folks are forgetting that lots of less than reputable dealers prefer to quote high on financing and then go through a bank where they get more back on the financing. I know a local GM dealer that quotes every used vehicle at 8.99% no matter what and pockets a bunch of money doing so from the uneducated.

When I think back to when I bought my Jetta, I still don't know how the fuck I got a 2.9% rate on a 2006 Jetta in 2010.

Was it through VWs finance arm? I know usually Ford will have a time of year where they subsidize the used interest rates down into that neighbourhood. Last time I toyed around with getting another vehicle, used, I was offered a 3.5% over 4 year rate from the local credit union. My own bank would of given me 4.8% IIRC. I didn't push though since I was only toying with the idea.

The one way to get an insanely low rate is to throw your truck into your mortgage on renewal BUT then your term is amortized over 20 years... the math only makes sense if you are throwing a big lump sum payment on your mortgage every year to cover off your truck quickly.

yep from Yorkdale VW in toronto.

That being said I would NEVER go back to them. Regardless of the price. Terrible customer service, caught a tech ripping around the parking lot in my car, tried to deny it, not realizing I had a dash cam, then the manger defended the tech that it was for diagnostic purpose. What fuckin diagnostic purpose I was there for an oil change.

I wouldn't put it on the home, and even at 4.29 its really not THAT terrible. It could be worse. To me sometimes cheap interest rates worries me. Like GM is currently doing. 84 months at 0.9%? I feel like if a dealer needs to do that its because their vehicles are shit and wont sell without it.

Something like $5100 without any discount, he has ... Some small amount off.

25k trade / 25k down used to be savings on Taxes pre HST , And a few beer into the night appears and checking on this would appear to be true post HST. For BC.

I owned a 1 year old GMC Sierra 1500 with a 350 in it when I was 16. My insurance payments were about that.

Sad part is back in 98 with my first car, zero discount, I was paying within 200 bucks of what my current payments are in 2016 in my new truck. 43% discount, never an accident. BC / ICBC sucks.

    yep
also put 89H rated tires on the car and after two weeks they were bulging out on the side walls since its supposed to have 91H. The manager then said he talked to a tech and it should be ok. I started telling them I'll go to the media since I already had the video of their tech ripping around so they said ok they'll give me a new set of tires and a set of winters on rims.

Regardless, I never had such a bad taste left in my mouth from a car dealer before. Hell even when Subaru fucked me over and kept my $1000 deposit that they told me was refundable, didn't get to me as much.

On the + side I know both the parts guys at Yorkdale and they are both rather knowledgable and good guys. I only found out they worked there after meeting them at Eurokracy, both are VW fans so nice guys. But the rest of that dealer was terrible. If you know anyone in the market for VW tell them stay away.

Yeah, I was 16 about 14 years ago though lol. I wouldn't even want to know what it would cost now to insure a car at a young age now.

The only place in Canada that I know of with cheap regulated insurance is Saskatchewan. Basically they have a cap that prevents crazy rates on young people. At the local colleges and universities most students illegally leave their vehicles registered and insured through Saskatchewan to dodge the high rates here.

If I wasn't under my dad when I first got the VW I would've been paying upwards of $700 a month. Not just province but city matters a lot too.

Depending on which area around toronto. Downtown Toronto is ok, scarborough is somewhat high. Markham and Brampton will pay rather large premiums.

I know a friend of mine is 25 with his car and jeep registered in some bumfuck town north of peterborough and he pays nothing.

holy crap. on my 2005 CRV I pay $179 a month, I'm at 9 years accident free (43% discount, also been driving for 9 years).

with the 48k for the truck, that's with $5k down, and I have very very good credit. Sales manager says lowest he can get from Toyota is 5.54%, and I might be able to get a lower rate from a bank

I'm 23 in Alberta and my insurance is $175 a month for the Tacoma. Had a FR-S for a couple years and that was $330 a month for a while till I switched companies.

When I lived in Delta, I had a 1985 yota 4x4 and insurance on that was $180 a month through icbc, I was 18? Sometimes I miss that old girl but my new taco is way nicer in the creature comfort and power areas haha.

Pending credit you can get 3.99% through a couple of the banks up to about an 84 month term.

Know when your first Pros will be rolling in Mike? My dealer said my MT was built and ready to be loaded on rail late last week. Was told it should be here by Oct 1.

given this is my first time buying a new vehicle/taking out a car loan, will that affect the rate I can get?
