It's been a while a since I have been up there but the way we used to drive up there was to the right around the the side of 100 dollar hill. How long have you been going there?

Probably about 14 years since I was 19 or 20? My first truck was an 86 bronco that I SAS and had ginormous tires on. There used to be a Ford Bronco rally at the cinders every year ( I think it's in florence now?) I haven't been up there for about 5 years though. I sold all my offroad toys and drove a Subaru forester for awhile. Yeah I don't know the fu@k I was thinking either lol

So you remember a person that had a Polaris sport 400 that took passengers up 100 dollar hill.

...^^^... I spent part of a winter in Moscow ... after living in Canada & Finland ... winter was not too bad.

I hated the crazy traffic in Moscow and everywhere in Russia ... and the sky always seem to be gray.

I met more Russian woman in Finland than in Russia. Many of them would come to Tampere from St. Petersburg for the weekend or for a vacation.

Yeah, being from Texas, gulf coast, anything below 50 F is cold!
And yeah that Russian winter gray sky thang is depressing!
    I also traveled to Baikonour, Kahzakstan a few times....summer 114 F and winter -40 F.......brutal!
Been to St. Petersburg a few times.....nice!
Moscow driving.....I bought a Russian car there, Lada, during the '90's......crazy and worse driving I hav seen anywhere especially back then....was actually sort of fun after you got use to it....drive like shit and its normal! Lived there for 4 years....still go there a few times each year go work. It's better now....in general.
    Russian women.....beautiful......a well kept secret!

...^^^... That is deep sand ... Just curious, could you drive out of the sand without lowering tire pressure?

I could drive through the sand with the Tire pressure at 35 PSI. But, very slowly. At times the truck would get stuck, just turned on the crawl control and it got myself out.

...^^^... I like that "crawl control"... my last Tacoma was a TRD OR 4x4 and I don't think it would do that @ 35 PSI in that deep sand.

Haha, yep the lava is a tire killer! It likes to take nice chunks out of them, especially MT's... Lots of visitors take chances on the roads out here. Saw a rental Jeep rolled over on it's side last week lol.

Probably drives you locals nuts when us outsiders take to the trails in our rentals!? lol
I almost made it all the way down the Makalawena beach road in the same rental (looked like an idiot I'm sure). Got some nasty looks on the way... :anonymous:

    Love that island.

They were probably like WTF? Where they going in that Hyundai lol. Not a lot of people drive down Maks in cars and some people don't want to chance it in the truck/suv. It's pretty entertaining when they get stuck, but not as much so when the road gets all dug up... Hey man, while you're here on vacation might as well Explore! Same as when we go somewhere else, we want to see all the sights. Just need to respect the place and you'll be good!
