So there is is different part no for the nut then. But is it really a different nut or will the 1st gen nut work.

Try the dealer. They'll use your VIN and get you the correct part. Should only be a couple bucks.

Finally got around to doing this on my 04 4X4... Original parts had 212K on them. Replaced it with a factory Toyota bearing and put some new Spicer U joints in while while everything was apart. 60-70 MPH cruising speed vibrations and general driveline clunkiness are completely gone and it drives like new!

Same here. Did mine yesterday. OEM bearing and spicer u joints. 128k on the odo. shutter at take off is gone as well as the squeak I was getting from the rear most u joint. one bearing was completely shot. The needle bearings were gone as in turned to dust. No grease in that one bearing at all and the cap was cracked. Ended up just reusing the yolk nut. Also, mine did not just slide off. Had to use a 2 jaw gear puller for the yolk and 3 jaw puller on the carrier bearing.

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
I don't think he understood what you are trying to say...on a side note there really isn't a huge difference between 1st & 2nd gen. It's all in the details.

Any help is appreciated. My 02 Tacoma had a good amount of vibration in the drive shaft at various speeds so I removed it and installed new front and rear u joints. Left the center cardon joints alone and installed a new center bearing. I also added a Street Tacos center bearing drop bracket for my 3-4 inch lift. The truck drives much better but still has a slight vibration at the start. Some questions I have are, does my shaft angle look okay where it is going through the center bearing or should it be more level with the center bearing? Or will I need to take it to Toyota and have the shaft re balanced? Below are pictures of the angle.fb573ac3-8104-49b1-8f51-751a44c1006e.jpg

Thanks for the guide. Helped me quite a bit. I have a question. There are two washers/spacers I took out of the old center support bearing. I did not pay attention where they came from because I thought they were broken pieces off of the old bearing and now I'm not sure how to put them back together. I saw the attached picture on an online Toyota dealer website. Do these two spacers(green arrows) stack up like this how it's shown?

I have a PDF repair manual and it shows only one spacer. Any help would be appreciated.

**Also I was able to pull the support bearing off effortlessly with my hands. I saw that a jaw puller was needed. Can someone answer why was I able to do this? The new one(OEM from Toyota) went on easily as well.

    Thanks.

Mine was the same ease of removal and I purchased jaw pullers for no reason but to store them for the next project...

Yes I bought a set of Jaw puller and ended not using it for this project either. I also saved them for future projects. Thanks for letting me know you had the same experience removing the bearing.

Do you remember seeing the two spacers I mentioned above? There are two of them and I stacked them together as shown in the picture above. Does that look familiar to you?

The spacer is just a washer and I only had one.

I can get some better picture in the daylight tomorrow. I have wanted to remove it and see what it does to my vibrations. With it on there the front and rear u joints have very little angle and I thought it would smooth most of the vibs out but it just made the vibration ranges broader. They have two size brackets depending on your lift. Really easy to put on but not sure it's worth the $75 at this point.

Bought mine from Conicelli Toyota ($156 shipped, OEM Toyota part), followed the OP's instructions, and have experienced no issues.

Took my truck in for another issue to my trusted Cert. Toyota mechanic, he inspected the drive-line components and mentioned that the R&R of the center bearing was "DIY'ed well' and all props were "in phase." My sense of "shade-tree-mechanic-ness" ramped up two notches as I walked out of their shop.

I just worry that if I end up putting a OEM on a raised truck that it will just get the same results as I've got now. That's why this poly bushing.

Depends on the degree of lift I suppose?

My truck sits on an OME suspension lift, with 883 coils in the front and HD Dakar leafs in the back, and I didn't have any issues. I'm probably rolling around 2.75" of lift overall, although as I have stated in other threads here, I don't really measure that stuff.

IMHO, poly bushing drop kits/diff drop kits probably don't hurt, but once we all start to drift from what the OG TEQ engineers created (ie: stock driveline geometries :sawzall:) in their lovely little labs...all 500,000 mile bets are off. ;)
