Where did you get that nice grille?

 

It looks like the factory grille, plasti-dipped to me.

 

I'm loving this taco's color even more after plastic dip of the grille and letters.

 

Took a ride up to Azusa Canyon today....had my 91 year old godfather along for the ride. Scenic pics

 

Just got mine 3 days ago, went from a 2003 nissan frontier my first vehicle , so far I love it! bring on the snow!

 

I'm liking that light bar. How big is it and where did you get it from? That's on my to do list for sure.

 

Woah woah woah...asking me how big what is?! Lol....it's a caliraised 31.5" light bar in 4D. Comes in a combo deal from them with brackets....only thing that got me heated was they sent me a junk relay with a bad switch...had to go get another one for extra $$$ but over all awesomething....you just have to trim the two air damns inside....easy peasy.

 

I have Icon Stage 4 on my DCLB. It is comfier, yet firmer. The "jolt" of rough roads/hits has been eliminated, and there's not nearly as much shaking. Body roll and nose dive both went down very significantly - it is a much more pleasant ride than the OEM sport suspension was. Dampening and rebound both seem much smoother and more controlled. Since ICON uses digressive valving, having the suspension get more comfortable as you go faster off road is truly a strange, but pleasant feeling. Driving washboard/dirt makes you want to go faster and faster.

That said, dollar for dollar for a mostly street truck, I think King suspension will be a better choice. I got ICONs at 20% off, and that was the biggest deciding factor for me. To be clear, I've never had King suspension, but it sounds on-par w/ ICON as far as quality and all that goes, and it uses progressive valving, which makes more sense when you mostly use the truck on the road. Maintenance schedules vary between the two brands, and King coilovers must be removed prior to adjustment (ICON's can be adjusted right on the truck) - a few differences to keep in mind.

Both ICON and King suspension will be more comfortable than stock on both the street & off road, and will be much more capable all around. Maintenance/adjustability differences aside, it sounds like King is better suited to the street, and ICON is better suited to (medium+ speeds) off-pavement.

Awsome thanks for this really helpful information, definitely looks like I'll go with kings.

My only question is how does changing the suspension affect the trucks warranty?
I understand if I have a after market suspension problem of course the warranty won't cover it but I'm not sure how much of the blame the suspension can get if future problems ever arise with the truck.

 

If the dealer can blame the mods, rest assured they will, and it will be a pain in the ass to argue with them. They'll almost certainly try to blame the suspension on any issues with wheels, ride, transfer case, differential, drivetrain in general. That said, keep in mind that the powertrain warranty is only what - 5 years? Despite all the "3rd gen issues," IMO there's little to no chance of anything serious happening to the powertrain in the first five years. It's a Toyota.

 

Great looking truck. What cap do you have and what is on top of your cap?

I ordered a snugtop that should be here next week.

 

Cap is a Leer 100XR. The aluminum-looking thing on top is a Renology 100W solar panel.

How do you like the light bar ? Was looking into that company but wanted to read up on them first

 

Light bar is cool...it's pretty darn bright to me but haven't compared it to others of the same size. As for the tires, they are BFG KO2 275/70R17.

 

Good point, thanks for the helpful info, I did buy the extended warranty but not because of the power train, but the technology. Since the truck is loaded with bsm,parking assist,entune, etc I was worried about the technology failing later on but I do have a lot of faith on the powertrain hopefully it reaches up to the 300k like the 2ndtacos
