Finally finished up the front end...almost. I sent my chrome grille to the bodyshop yesterday and got it back today with a shiny silver streak finish today. That completes a few other mods I have been working on since christmas. First off are new black bezel headlights. Then I installed the N-fab light bar with 4 Hella 700s (waiting on the damn toyota switches) and got the grillcraft billet insert. I did the horn relocate as well. Thanks longbow! Also painted the badges black in between beers. Thanks NumNutz! I, with some hesitation, did the dtrl and fogs anytime mods as well. If you are swaying on this go ahead...both mods are very simple. Thanks piercetiger! Still need to get some OME coils and KM2's among a few other things.....

$75.00 I did the grillcraft install first for fear of scratching the new paint if I installed it after. Then I took the whole grille, with the grillcraft installed so they could see exactly what needed painting, to the bodyshop. They removed the insert, sandblasted the chrome off, painted and reinstalled the grillcraft. Not a bad price imo and the color is a perfect match. I was suprised when the guy told me he was gonna sandblast the chrome...I didn't know you could do that to plastic, but he said he did not trust adhesion promoter and that this would be much more durable and last longer.

One note I wanted to add as far as rebadging goes is that I found it much easier to apply the 3M tape to the badges before painting. Just leave the backing on the tape until you are ready to reapply. I washed the badges with dawn then let them dry before applying 3M trim tape. I ran the tape the entire length of the badge then flipped it over and trimmed around each letter with an exacto knife from the backside....took about 5 minutes to trim each badge this way. I also marked the location on the door with blue painters tape and the goo gone did not cause the tape to come off. Then cleaned up the area with windex before finally reapplying.

How durable are the badges gonna be now that I have painted them? Can I still go thru a carwash?
